    Huntersville 6
    Pineville 5

The game started great for Pineville, who got off the bat to a 1-0 lead than in the B2 Pineville lead grow to 4-0 Huntersville until the top of 6 had only two hits and the balls that hit were an easy pup up for Pineville. In the top of the six Pineville pitcher hit a better than he gave up a single and just 1 out Huntersville hit a 3run home run that made it 4-3 Pineville. In the B6 Pineville on a base hit and a runner at 2nd with 2 out Pineville lead grows to 5-3. In the top of seven things, we're looking really bad for Pineville. Huntersville had a runner at 1st and 1 out of it the count was 2-1 the batter for Huntersville was trying to bunt. He hit an easy pup up behind the home plate. That the Pineville catcher should have caught. The pitch the guy for Huntersville hit a fly ball Pineville LF somehow lost the ball in the light one run for Huntersville score. Then the next batter the ball got away from the Pineville catcher and the tie run score and it a 5-5 game. Huntersville got it winning run in the of the top nine Huntersville they had a runner at 2nd and 3rd and 1 one out, and they got a base hit the runner at 3rd score while the runner at 2nd was throwing out at home.

I want to this that tonight the home plate umpire was very bad, and he gave Huntersville most of the calls. There a couple of times during the game that the Pineville batter had a count 3-2, and the pitch was either way outside or way inside and yet the ump called it a strike 3. This umpire also in the top 9 throws out the Pineville catcher. So Huntersville is a good team might be a very good team. However, I'm not sure if they are a great team.

    Monroe 6
    Pineville 3

The game start great for Monroe who took a 1-0 land in top 3.In fact Monroe had a no hitter going until the B4 that when Pineville tie it up at 1-1.In top Monroe took the lead and make it 2-1 then in B6 Pineville hit a 2 run Home run .in the top of the 7 Monroe tie it up at 3-3 then in the top 8 Monroe with 2 out score 3 runs to make it 6-3

As Pineville is heading into the playoff as a 8th seed and will play either Cherryville Post 100 or Caldwell County Post 29 .Despite losing 6 games in raw heading into the playoff .I will say this Pineville is a talented team .This guys can hit .The problem with Pineville is that they don't play good defense. If Pineville can improve it defense heading into the playoff .Pineville could upset either Cherryville Post 100 or Caldwell County Post 29

    Queen City Mustangs 9...Huntersville 8

    H'ville.. 100 310 020...8..12..1
    Q. City 000 041 31x...9..16..3

Wow! What a game tonight at Jack Sink Field where the Queen City Mustangs scored in their last four frames and prevailed 9-8 and prevented Huntersville from achieving their undefeated season...Huntersville finished the regular season 18-1 and Queen City ended with a 14-5 record. Michael Boles was the story early as he was cruising through the first four innings. Boles enjoyed good run support as Hunter Conley tripled to deep center to plate three runs in the top of the 4th inning, but Boles found trouble in the bottom of the 5th. William Frazier led off with a double to left center and three of the next four batters singled and then David Daniels doubled to deep right field. When the dust settled, Queen City had pulled within one run at 5-4. Queen City tied it in the following frame and Hunter May was called upon to get the last out in the bottom of the sixth, which he did. May got into trouble in the 7th, giving up 4 hits and two walks to six batters. Frazier stroked an RBI double to deep right center and the Huntersville team executed a perfect relay play to nail the second runner at the plate with a nice tag play by Sam Remick. Queen City had just nailed a runner at the plate in the previous inning with an astounding throw from straightaway center by James Snover that sailed right to the plate...literally on the plate on the fly to beat the runner by 1/2 step..great tag play by Colin Manning.

With the score 5-5, Frazier relieved Queen City starter Olen Little and pitched two hitless and scoreless innings. Lee Harrison came in to pitch the 8th and 9th innings. In the top of the 8th inning Whitecavage doubled to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI groundout by Jared Fortune. In the the home half of the 8th inning, Harrison led off with a single and scored on an RBI double by Alex Jensen...what proved to be a very important insurance run. The top of the ninth inning was very exciting...pinch-hitter Justin Hammond reached on an error and Brandon Wilkerson walked. With no outs, Queen City got an out on a soft liner to second base, but the throw to first to try to double off the runner sailed wide and both runners advanced. Mikal Hill stroked the first pitch he saw to CF to drive in Huntersville's 7th run but subsequently got picked off first base by Harrison to record the second out as the 8th run scored on the pickoff play. Harrison struck out the next hitter but his hard slider evaded the catcher and the runner was safe at first..the elusive third out was not recorded and the game continued. Daniel Whitecavage lined a pitch into right center and the runner advanced to third. Frazier cut the ball off in right center and threw to the cutoff man at SS. Whitecavage got hung up between first and second and SS Alex Jensen threw a strike to first baseman Tyler Powell who applied the tag before Michael Russell could reach the plate with the tying run.

A crowd of about 150 was treated to outstanding baseball and a very competitive contest.

    Special notes:

QC shortstop Alex Jensen played his last game tonight for the Mustangs as he leaves tomorrow for basic training prior to enrolling at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Alex was a run-producing machine for the Mustangs and a great teammate.

Huntersville catcher Sam Remick showed everyone in attendance what first class catching looks like as he stopped everything in the dirt all night and had a great tag play with a 6'5", 235 lb runner bearing down on him. He also raced over to the first base dugout and made an inning-ending, sliding catch on a weak foul pop when it looked like he had no chance to make a play.

    Leading Hitters:

    QC: Lee Harrison, 3-4
QC: William Frazier 2-5, (2) doubles, RBI
QC: David Daniels 3-5, double RBI
QC: Alex Jensen 2-5, double, RBI
    QC: Patrick Langdon 1-2, 2RBI
    QC: Colin Manning 2-3, RBI
    QC: Eddie Hull 2-4, RBI
    HV: Daniel Whitecavage 2-4, double
    HV: Michael Russell 2-5, RBI
    HV: Mikal Hill 2-5, RBI
HV: Hunter Conley 1-3, triple, 3RBI

I Have a question when Huntersville lineup was introduce did they take the field?. The reason I ask is when they played Pineville on Friday night .When we introduce Huntersville. The players did not take the field .Which in none of the Pineville home games that they have play last year as well this year. I never saw a team not take the field when introduce.

Huntersville did take the field during inroductions. Jack Hughes field has undergone a tremendous renovation since i was last there yearssssss ago. Friday night the speakers wasnt working very well and the players could not hear the announcer, so that is why they didn't come out at first, but they did come out when they realize that their names were being called.

The Area IV meeting is tonight at 5pm. The final brackets will be filled in there as all the ties that need coin-tosses will be filled.

I have been out of the loop for a while. I know the split the bracket so the #1s from each side wouldn't play eachother until the finals. So the #8W plays the #1E and so on. And therefore, the #2s are split as well. Which side of the brackets are the #3s and #4s. Would the West #1 play the West #4 in the quarterfinals or East #4?
