    Among that list, softball will never beat out baseball... just saying.

    I disagree, cmmguy.

    Olympic baseball was always a ho-hum sport for me and many others. It had trouble attracting an audience and advertisers, even in the US. Very few, if any, of the games ever got televised. And this is in the US, the home of baseball. Can you name one olympic baseball personality from the past 20 years?

    Softball, in the US market, had televised games and advertisers. It has personalities (e.g. Jennie Finch, Jessica Mendosa). It is beginning to develop an international following that baseball seems unable to build.

    It has been said that baseball killed softball because baseball needed to go and some IOC members didn't see the difference and took them out as a matched set. I think if the IOC is shown the following softball has, it can get re-added leaving baseball out.

    You're dead wrong

    Have you ever been to Europe? Do you understand why baseball and softball got kicked out? The answer is steroids and competition. The MLB steroid scandal tainted the game in the eyes of the Europeans (who control the Olympic movement). It didn't matter that ML players didn't play in olympic baseball. In Europe softball is tied to baseball through the club system. The major reason softball got kicked out was it was tied to baseball in the minds of the Europeans and the fact that the USA was so dominant. Domination on the international level is over with Finch retiring and Osterman & Abbott no longer involved in Team USA. Ueno is the best pitcher in the world and the Japanese have the best team.

    Softball has a chance now if it can divorce itself from baseball. Softball is much less expensive to offer because of the smaller field required. All these things matter.

    Ok, I did not know all this other stuff and I appreciate the education. I thought I was being realistic but I guess I didnt have all the info. I did vote for softball in case there is any doubt :clapclap:

    Of course there's lots of other crap to

    Ultimately, the Olympics are about $$. It is run by a bunch of old guys who look out for themselves and their interests first. President Rogge played rugby as school boy. Guess what sport got added at the last meeting? And how about Synchronized Men's Diving? How many times do you see guys diving off the high board in unison? The point is there are a lot of things about the Olympics that are not what they seem.
