    ... and before the first pitch is thrown, if I may get a little Area "banter" going,,, I'd like to point out that Area 3 has won the last 3 state titles:

    2008- Randolph County
    2009- Rowan County
    2010- Kernersville
    :grin:

    Seriously, hope the weathers nice this week in Morehead City and everyone has a safe and wonderful week of good baseball.

    A little early motivation for the players. Entire American Legion World Series will be aired live on ESPN 3. Can't think of a better way to put some smiles on the faces of a legion team still in the hunt. Da...Da...Dant......Da....Da...Dant!!!! Promise you there were some top 10 candidates last year!! Kernersville first basesman made one of the greatest catches you will ever see last year in the World Series. Foul ball just beyond the first base dugout, short fence hits him just above the knees as he makes the catch to end the inning. Hands hit, followed by a hop back onto his feet in the stands, glove up to show the umpire then ball out and flipped to the crowd!! Don't take my word for it.     It does appear that WLON 1050 AM and WCSL 1590 AM will carry all
    Cherryville Games. Not sure if they will carry any other games or not.

    By the way The Gaston Gazette had a nice story today on the front page
    of the sports about Bobby Reynolds and son Drew.

    Home Run Derby Winner

    Ryan LaGrange of Wilmington Post 10 took the derby. He hit 9 bombs in the first round and 12 in the finals. The wind was blowing out tonight and the kids who participated really put on a show.
