As the season comes to an end for the Pioneers it can, by all accounts, be considered a successful and fun season.

In their inaugural season the Pioneers

Finished in second place in the Eastern division and with the 3rd best record overall.

    A 22-18 record.

Will be hosting a home playoff game as the 2 seed.

Have 5 players in the top 25 in hitting

    The league leader in doubles

A pitcher in the top 5 in ERA and Wins

Player in the top 5 in RBI.

Our coaching staff worked their butts off to help the kids get better. See article on Brewer here:

    http://www.matthewsminthillweekly.com/sports/2011/07/brewing-a-winner/

A group of players who have gelled, had a good time, got better and opened some eyes of the scouts at the next level.

It is with great anticipation that we look forward to continuing to enhance our program and the SCBL. NC/SC is too full talent to be ok with the players who play at the next level going to the "better" leagues. This league is full of talent and the more we continue to bring the local talent back to the Pioneers, Stingers, Aggies, Copperheads, Owls and others the more attention the league and the players will get.

If you are a Freshman-Junior at the collegiate level next year, you should really consider playing in this league. It is going to continue to grow in talent and exposure and eventually this league is going to become the next big place to be because of the people involved behind the scenes at all of these teams believe in the potential to do so. If the players believe we will be successful and there will be a wait list to get in.

Looking forward to the playoffs and a tremendous end to the 2011 season and the start of 2012!

Dave- I knew having your association involved with the SCBL would only enhance the league and its perception to others. Obviously it takes a lot of work behind the scenes, but doing so it's done with unadulterated joy.

I hope you enjoyed your first season as much as I did last year. It's a thrill, a challenge and very rewarding. I believe the SCBL, in the near future, will be the place that everyone will want to participate. The sky is the limit and it will be directed by the current partners of the league.

The players, the host families and your partners will have built memories that will never be forgotten.

I salute you and your partners for a job well done. :woot:

Next year will be even greater!!!!!

What an outstanding article. There is no one I have more respect for than Terry Brewer. I've had an opportunity to observe him many times at camps, clinics and as a coach. He even worked my TBR X-Mas camp. He never knew who I was, which made it even easier for me to observe and form an objective opinion.

Terry Brewer is one of those treasured icons that are rarely found anymore. Forget the baseball knowledge; it's his ability to communicate that knowledge to the young guys receiving it. They understand they are privileged to be playing for him...and soak in everything he says.

And Dave Collins is correct: The SCBL is loaded with excellent coaches...and they all understand the goals of what summer college baseball is about.

Too late...as you know there will already be a waiting list. The problem will be for the college coaches that have sent us players in the past. Many of those schools may no longer have those opportunities they had in the past. The talent level has risen and the D1 schools have taken notice.

I really do believe that NC may become the state with the most ML baseball players...just like we were in 1957....when Dave Collins first became a COO. :REDanceBanana011:

I would like to tip my cap to Terry Brewer, Dave Collins, and Garry Hill for what they have done in Pineville. Over the previous five years, I have seen this league grow leaps and bounds. With the addition of Statesville last year and now Pineville this year I am sure it will only continue to improve. Its great to see good baseball people involved who understand what this is all about. We'd be fooling ourselves if we said we didn't all want to win, but we've got some guys in this league that see the bigger picture now and I appreciate that! Keep up the good work!

    Kudos to Pineville

While I wish my son could have played a bigger part in the success of the Pioneers, things just didn't go how he had planned. What did go as planned was being welcomed with open arms from knowledgeable, caring, and supportive baseball people that make up the entire Pineville Pioneer Organization. We have known some of these Coaches before this Summer and knew that it would be a fun, but competitive season. Thanks to Coach Brewer and Gary Hill for making the whole experience "First Class". DC, it was finally nice to be able to sit behind the same dugout with you, thanks again for that phone call back in the Spring.

Good Luck in the playoffs, we'll be pulling for the ya!
