Adidas Futures Event - St George , Utah

How was the college coach turnout. My kid was invited out there two years ago when it was an individual showcase but we didn't go because we didn't think it would be worth the expense. Was it worth it, just asking.

 

"Was it worth it" is always a difficult question to answer because it's very much individual by individual. Some Girl's definitely gained new opportunities that they didn't have before.

With that said, the format of the Adidas Futures tournament changed this year. They moved away from a "queen of diamonds" model to a travel ball organization sponsored/organized model. The talent level was strong, but the quantity of college coaches attending did not match the level of talent on the fields. There were some major programs in attendance, but the depth of major programs was not what you'd expect.

The reason IMO, was two fold, the timing of the tournament needs to be a bit earlier and the game times more reasonable. Secondly, the format change was a positive but I'm sure some college coaches were skeptical. If they can make a few tweets in the logistics and hold the commitment of the organizations involved in this years tournament,it will be hard for college coaches to ignore this event.
