I will admit, that Wilmington was one of my 2 favorites to win the whole thing.

Morehead Experience.....

I will say the Morehead Experience and Legion experience, in general, were less than stellar. Not only did the team get bumped from the Hampton Inn to the Econolodge because Hampton Inn overbooked to parents, but the Econolodge did not have enough rooms. Then they ran out of roll away beds so some of our players had to sleep on the floor of this already described "roach motel". Whoever was in charge of hotels should have gone to bat for the players and prevented this situation from occurring. There really is no excuse for it.
It would have been nice if the host city had arranged radio broadcast of the games and maybe even a twitter feed, or facebook page with updates. Anything would have been nice for fans unable to make the trip to have an opportunity to keep up with the games.

I appreciate our coaches time and efforts this season. The players and coaches made the season enjoyable despite any drawbacks encountered. However, the "powers that be" in the Legion system need to realize they are in the 21st century and competing with so many other organizations for players that they cannot continue to run the league as though it is still 1950.

 

Cherryville and Rowan County all tied up 4-4, in 6th inning...

 

Area 1 teams (Wayne County and Cary) stayed at the Buccaneer Inn, which was also pretty grimey. Also, all of the doors seemed to be too big for their frames. A good, swift kick was usually required to enter a room after swiping your keycard. I made the mistake of trying to just throw my weight on it, which on the third try led to me flying into my room and also tackling my roommate. Ironically, despite the difficulty to open the doors, they almost had a tendency to not lock when you closed them. And Cary didn't have any rollaway beds, so I doubt Wayne had any either.

However, the breakfast did have one waffle maker, so I guess this was one of the fancier hotel selections.

I bet BDR stays in a Holiday Inn Express.

 

Cant take anything away from BDR, this is his time of the season. I think the man could sleep in a tent out on the beach and still go to the ballpark and beat most other coaches. He simply knows how to win baseball games, period.

 

No doubt, and his guys expect to win.

 

I remember staying in the Buccaneer Inn back in the 70's. Guess they haven't updated much.
