Didn't Cherryville lose a player with something like a .380 batting average to college sports right before the tourney started? All teams have adversity.

oh, the kid that came for the last day. All I want to know is where the first baseman is going? He was a good player. I would like to see how he hits a pitcher like Reynolds. Reynolds is a good player as well.

Thomas Bess is the player that made it for the last day. He's missed a majority of Cherryville's post season due to committments at UNC-Asheville where he's going to play baseball and basketball.

Reynolds just finished his freshman year at ECU. He started 12 games and hit .200 for the Pirates. The first baseman, Trey Drewery, just finished his freshman year at Tusculum College in Tennessee. He started 29 games for them and hit .324 with 1 HR and 28 RBI.

That was my point better pitching they don't hit as good. How about the 5 hits against Reynolds they were high school players. The one kid had two hits off of him. good job. My point is that they were very even teams playing. Even though the score looked one sided. We simply ran out of pitching.

Hey I understand that pitching is thin in these tournaments but sometimes you have to work the system so that you can maximize your guys innings. The announcer from Rowan put it best I think. When it comes down to it some kids just want it more. I think 2 of the Post 100 starters threw at least 15 innings or so in the tournament.

    a couple of thoughts...

Our team played Cherryville on their way to the title, so I can add a few comments after attending all four games we played them.

    1. All credit to Cherryville for being the champs...what they brought beat what everybody else brought.
    2. Their coach works hard from the dugout and when he goes to the mound he is toting a strong message for the pitcher
    3. Their fans are vocal and spirited...I like their fans, they were funny at times as they do bellyache most every call and some of them do it in an entertaining and original way.
    4. They hit in bunches and once it starts it's hard to stop
    5. Tradition means a lot and it is apparent that playing for Post 100 means something in their community. Most of their fans don't have a dog in the fight, but they cheer and support their team like they do.
    6. When you lose, excuses only make you feel better...they mean nothing to the victors, nor to most other observers.
    7. Coulda, woulda, shoulda = didn't get it done

Hey Low&Slow we only do so if we feel we were done wrong..... and we always think we were done wrong! You are correct in stating that the sense of pride to play on the Post 100 team is real strong. They work hard as a staff and know what they are doing. Hope to see yall next year in the playoffs as well.

Queen City....our best guys weren't there, and we forgot to bring our gear, and the sun was in our eyes every game (even at night), and everybody had food poisoning, and our shoes were all too tight, and we heard that the Cherryville's coach's sisters were all married to the umpires....

JUST KIDDIN' Congrats to the CHAMPS!
