    Thank You!

    Coach May,

Thanks for organizing and leading this event. I really appreciate you taking your time, effort and energy to give kids an opportunity to learn and have fun in the process. We had a great time and really learned a great deal.

We especially enjoyed working with Rusty on catching fundamentals. He did an excellent job identifying opportunities for improvement and providing feedback to each kid. Each catcher left the camp knowing something they needed to work on and what they needed to do to improve. We would definitely like to get up with him again! He also emphasized that you have to work, and there is no substitute for hard work.

As a parent, it’s always nice when someone else talks to your kid about the benefits of hard work, being true to one’s self and the importance of developing a good work ethic, because they get tired of hearing it from their parents all of the time. I also liked the part where you talked about working at something when no one is looking, being self-driven, and self-motivated. I think one of the greatest skills a person can possess, whether it be in athletics or life, is to have the ability to coach yourself. To be able to ask yourself three questions, in the middle of a play or in the middle of an important business decision, when things don’t go the way you want them to go. To ask, what was I trying to do? What happened or what was the result? And what adjustment do I need to make? Then, make the adjustment and go on. I’ve been preaching this to my boy for years, it hasn’t sunk in totally and maybe it never will, but I’ll continue to preach it because it’s what I believe.

Again, Thank You and we appreciate it.

P.S. – The ladies in the concession stand made a mean hot dog. It was mighty nice of them to be out there serving “vittles”. I’d ride from Oxford, back over to Creedmoor for one of those hot dogs any day! Tell the ladies, Thank You!

Dang it....one of the best things that has happened on TBR and I missed it. I was really looking forward to participate in the workout drills. I wanted to set the example for those young guys. Oh well, I'm sure there will be another one.

On a more serious note, I appreciate all the great feedback this one is getting. It speaks volumes about the type people that read and participate in this forum. It is also about people that want to "give back".

The one thing that I missed the most was not seeing my friends there...as well as establishing new friendships.

The reason Coach27 did not charge for this event was because you can't afford him...he's priceless.

I want to thank him again as well as all of the volunteers. It was not easy, but it sure seemed to be a lot of fun.

Wait until you guys get an invitation to Braves Club Med Invitational. It is a little different than Coach27's....I have bat & ball girls....plus golf carts. The only difference is in the price. His is priceless, mine is pricey!

This was a one time camp that was free to all TBR kids---check out the names of the kids attending.

In a time where costs are spiraling to play baseball, I want you to keep in mind that Coach Kenny May did this for free. Just goes to show that there still are people willing to contribute their time to help the youth improve their baseball skills.

However, what made this camp so unique was the only requirement by Coach May to attend was the willingness to work hard and to accept direction. I can tell you that all players that attended satisfied those requirements.

    I appreciate

the kind words Braves. If there is enough interest I would love to do another one of these this fall. The last one I did was in Clinton a couple of years ago. When I saw the post on Logan going to South Carolina I could not help but think of the Boot Camp that year. I knew that young man was going to be a player. I am so happy for him and his family. Good things happen to good people.

Haha...I remembered that post. It's what brought me back to this thread. What a great time had by all. I still have people telling me about how much fun they had.

Yes, Kenny, ya gotta to do this again...in fact, you gotta do this every year.

    Such Great Memories

It was freakin cold that day, but also one of the best things my son ever did in his baseball career. He was in awe watching Jeff, Pratt, Brian Goodwin, etc. swing it. If it wasn't for TBR, we wouldn't have known about it. If we hadn't known about it, we would never have met Kenny May. What a loss for us that would have been.

Braves and Coach May, thank you for all you have done for the baseball players in this state. My son is one who truly benefitted from your generosity.
