2011 All State teams

Snubs...

These are arguments that can never be won. There have always been, are now, and always will be snubs whenever any "top whatever" list is compiled, because it is based on opinion and opinions vary widely, whether it be greatest movies, greatest all-time TV comedies or as in this case....greatest HS baseball players in NC for 2011. There are many reasons a player could have been snubbed and here are just a few, in no particular order:

1. many voters don't have knowledge of the players performance
2. player is in an obscure program or conference
3. player blossomed this year...not a known player over the years
4. player has not been out there on the "circuit" (camps, showcase, etc)
5. player didn't play for his legion team the summer prior to his senior season
6. player hasn't been recruited to play college baseball
7. voter's don't respect the level of competition played against
8. voter's invalidate the stats because of level of competition, field dimensions, integrity of statistician, etc
9. player has on-field character issues that come back to haunt him in the ballot box
10. Coach is not liked by his peers
11. Coach does not promote his player
12. Coach isn't fond of his player either (regardless of stats)
13. on and on....

All that said, it is unfortunate when it happens and the snubbed player and his family will always feel the tinge of unfairness about it all. Their HS senior season only occurs once in life and when the train left the station with them still standing on the platform, there is no reversing it and to the original point....that argument will never be won.

However, the player will have numerous other opportunities in life to be measured and many of those are infinitely more important than a high school all star team.
