from what people tell me JV is still competitive. it seems like they went out there for a win and they just put it to u guys. baseball in the highschool is a 7 inning sport and u have to continue to play the game. how many major league games have you seen when teams gave up just because they were winning?

I expect to see more lopsided scores coming out with Hopewell on the losing end as they have lost much of their baseball base with new school district boundaries.....the 2011 class may have been their last hurrah for awhile.

All of you guys are missing my point. There should be a mutual respect among coaches and when a coach purposely runs up the score it is bush league. You guys are right, we did get our butts kicked. But, ask any respectful coach and they will tell you that what happened was wrong. I can't believe more parents from Myers Park were not upset that he didn't make one single substitution. JV baseball is competitive but it should be about developing players and getting them ready for the Varsity level, not about wins and losses and certainly not about embarassing another team by running up the score purposely.

There is the belief that baseball is the type of game that pays you back!

You're right this is not little league, but it isn't the major leagues either. Every coach I have talked to and have a relationship with tell me that once they get up 10 runs they ease up. We could easily beat Vance and West Charlotte 50 to 0 if we wanted to but what would that prove?

I have no dog in this fight, and I do not know MP coach, but I di believe that Southpaw is right about the way to play the game. I ahve coached(non-professionally) for many years. I have watched my sons progress thru hs and college baseball. I have been watching pro baseball all my life. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen a coach run the score up with starters this bad. This was a great opportunity to get a look at your bench. Play the subs, slow them down on taking extra bases, especially steals, but let them hit, pitch and play defense to their best ability. If you still score 20 then so be it, but do it with class and let your bench shine.

Saw MP jv play several times this year. As many as 7 jrs. started on the jv team. When ahead and playing well they played as most front-runners do: cocky and full of s...! Coach allowed it and said and did nothing to deter it. When challenged and in a tight game both the players and coaches were obviously tight and very very quiet.

Lets not waste any more time talking about a JV team that was composed of upper-classmen! Take all the Jrs and even the sophs and freshmen that were playing Varsity in the SW4A this year and put them on their respective school's JV Team and play: the MP JV would have a hard time winning a single game!

    MP JV Record=FOOLS GOLD!!!

Fact: Former player coaching in Iredell County turned down the job. Bad timing. Couldn't sell house and get wife a job in Meck. County with such short notice. Don't know anything about new coach. He better be strong and willing to put the BLUEBLOODS in their place or he has no chance. I wish him well!

As many as 7 really means 4 you are correct. Believe me the juniors did not want to play JV.
    Vincent Gau
    Blaine Sanders
    JC Halasey
    Dillon Rusgo
were the four Vincent got moved to varsity after about 5 games and started for varsity when he got there
