It concerns me that for the most part alot of the coaches i have seen are in very bad shape and obese. i even saw one eating a chili dog during a game in his dugout during a game in Jupiter this summer! This coach was in a very prominant organization. maybe it is just me but what kind of example is this? :FO2DIFatWoman03HL::189:

Well, we know the chili dog-eating violator wasn't your favorite, "coach pretty eyes":1luvu:......as he is slim & trim.

but seriously. why are most of them obese? Coaches w Panthers,Canes, Dirt Bags and SBA for the most part in great shape(you ever seen that picture of Jeff Shore in a speedo?? HOT!) other organizations very bad physical shape and obesity issues.....even at the top level

    Does it matter

The way I look at it, it doesn't matter what the coach looks like as long as he is teaching the kids the fundamentals of the game and to respect the game and his teammates. Use 1 example, Tommy Lasorda was and may be one of the best coaches not in the finest shape (unless you call round a shape). Then you have Mike Quade with the Cubs, looks like he is in shape but team not doing to well… This is just an example, you get the picture of what I’m trying to say. It’s not about what they look like it what they know and how to present it.
Remember this is just an example... I didn't mean to step on any Cuby fans toes.

I like 'em fat.....the fatter they are, the smarter they are (baseball-wise.) I never met one baseball fat guy that wasn't brilliant. The one's that are fit and trim are usually fanatics, intense...and no fun.

By the way, I've been gone all week and it's the first time I've had a chance to get on the board...everybody been behavin'?

I remember when my son was around 12-13 and came into the living room without a shirt on, flexing his "abs". He said "Daddy look, I have a sixpack!" I responded, with my year of experience and training, "that ain't nothin', I gotta keg!"

    missing the point?

just read through this one. Looks like Gal was asking how youths perceive having a fat out of shape coach telling them how important it is to work hard, eat right, lift, run, ....when they themselves are obese. there are plenty of showcase coaches in good shape like Bo Robinson, Don Hutchins, Jake Robbins, John Owens, .....there are tons more that are fat slobs and we all know who they are. to me and maybe it is just me ....this is not a good situation.(even worse are the ones that dip tobacco during games and practices these guys are suposed to be role models....yet to see one smoke:fishing:) i have never seen a coach at this level eat in the dugout but if that story is true .......WOW
