I know McCarver has his fans, but I hear him say so many things that just don't make baseball sense. Every time he says something crazy, I wonder what real knowledgeable baseball folks (those that know the game better than I do) think of his commentary....at least he quit putting brown shoe polish on his hair.

The man has been doing the same routine for years---speaks baseball at a level that he must think impresses the general viewing public. I agree McCarver paints a picture when announcing that is too abstract.

he and buck are the worst broadcast team ever. contractually he probably couldnt do it, but dan shulman from espn is one of the best around right now.

Yeah, I loved the "After piecing together the video, it's our opinion that Pujols put on a hit-n-run" ...

    Nice...
So Albert decides (on his own) to put the play on, then gives a signal directly to Craig, then hangs him out by not swinging at the pitch.

    Yep, that's exactly what happened...

Yeah, he said some nonsensical thing about Yadier Molina making a mistake by not taking second on his hit to LF when a runner stopped at third, saying "no one has ever been thrown out at second in that situation by a left handed left fielder" ...later he tried to clarify saying no one has thrown behind the runner rounding first from left field in 5 years in MLB.

Whatever, he makes me dizzy when he starts speaking as if he is at the pinnacle of knowledge about baseball and we are blessed that he is about to sprinkle us with a little tidbit of his awesome perspective...even if it is off base or just plain incorrect.

He must have pictures on some execs at Fox in compromising circumstances...

That's my thought. I have NEVER heard anybody say anything good about the man as an announcer...yet he is still on the air.

I love Orel Herscheiser...and could listen to Harold Reynolds anytime. Anybody else gets the impression that Joe Buck doesn't want to be there? That he would prefer to be with Aiken on football.

    I miss Jon Miller, too!

My son said the favorite tweet he ever received was, "Listening to McCarver announce is like listening to a SNL skit making fun of McCarver announcing."

McCarver is as tough to listen to doing baseball as Lou Holtz is in football......make them stop! Too many good, knowledgeable baseball people out there to have McCarver doing it.

P.S. Dirty Mo....great call by your son --- wonder if Will Farrell could do HIM the way he does Harry Caray....hilarious!

    PTI today

Timmy said today on PTI that Jaime Garcia (tonights pitcher for the Cardinals) was the first pitcher for the Cardinals since 1953 (Harvey Haddix) to win 13 games. At first, I thought he was referring to lefties, but then thought of Carlton...I assume he must have been referring to rookie pitchers, but i don't think Garcia is a rookie. He was so bold in making his misstatement, as usual.
