We are just 3 weeks away from what I believe is one of the best Hot Stove League Dinner's in the country! (I'm biased)

Here is the list of 2012 finalists. This is not offered up for a debate or any questioning of kids talents, etc. We should honor the kids on the lists as there are many that could also appear here. This is an open nomination process, so some may not have been nominated, etc.

We invite the entire baseball and softball community to join us January 28th at Charlotte Catholic High School for the dinner and awards. Tickets are going fast and are available at www.hotstovedinner.com

The event will sell out, so don't wait to long.

I congratulate every player on here and more importantly I salute all student-athletes that work as hard in the classroom as they do on the field of play

finalists can be found at www.hotstovedinner.com

HOT STOVE MISSED IT THIS YEAR

I have no axe to grind over the list of finalists. Nor do I have a dog in the fight. But if any of you have spoken with the PLAYERS who played from the spring through the fall with those on the list, you know that the list is bogus, if not laughable. Out of respect for the kids I will say no more.
Perhaps the process needs a bit of tweaking before next year. Hopefully the organization can maintain at least some credibility until improvements are made.

    Good luck,:ME8cough::ME8cough::ME8cough:

BBL --Not quite sure who I am talking to here since you are behind a screen name, but I do have a few questions for you.

Did you send in any nominations? Who did you nominate that got left out?

Not quite sure which "bogus" kid is on there, but I would welcome your insight via email at [email protected]

I am always open to your thoughts and I welcomed nominations on the board for months in advance.

can you also share with me how you would tweak the process, I assume you are 100% up to speed on the process?

Have you ever attended one of the dinners, would you like to come this year, ticket is on me....... Come here the message I will deliver and see what you think....

Baseball lady, please send me an email, would love to hear from you and let me know who shouldn't be on the list and who should have been on the list, also let me know who you nominated,,, I will be glad to chat with you and address every concern you have.

I feel pretty good about my credibility that you took a shot at, but I would again welcome an email from you so I know who it behind the screen name.

Again, please email me at [email protected] or if you like, email me and I will share my cell # with you.

Thanks and have a great day

Since the list is bogus and laughable and the kids make up that list I am fairly certain that you have already said enough to disrespect each one of them, so you are way too late.

In one post you are willing and able to help and in the next one you are blasting the process? I am confused. Maybe you should take Tripp up on his offer and email him so you can volunteer to help with the tweaking of the nomination and awards process

Tripp Roakes has done nothing but try his darndest to promote youth sports in the Charlotte area. His South Charlotte Sports report provides in depth coverage of South Charlotte youth sports from pee wee leagues to deep coverage of High School athletics across the spectrum. He created the Battle of the Border games to provide another venue for our talented players to compete and to be seen by the many scouts in attendance. He created the Hot Stove dinner as a means to recognize achievement and to create buzz for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons.

And yes he has pleaded for nominations for the awards portion of the Hot Stove dinner to be fair to everyone around. I applaud Tripp for all he has done and he will continue to do for ball playin' kids and their families in the greater Charlotte area.

P.S. Who led the charge from the community when Charlotte/Mecklenburg middle school sports were threatened? Answer: Tripp Roakes

Really? Was it that your son was not chosen as one of the finalists? Or maybe your favorite coach wasn't chosen (Who could that be)? Shame on you.....very mean spirited. In the post that you "offered to help" with the event.....I could hear the sarcasm loud and clear. We probably will not see a post from "Baseballlady" again but will see you reappear under another name like in the past.

Congratulations to all of the finalists!

For those that know Tripp Roakes, they would never question his credibility, his work ethic or his care of doing things the right way. What he has accomplished in creating awareness in youth sports and leading the charge to ensure sports continue in middle school at CMS are just a sample of what he does.

He doesn't need me to "toot his horn," but it is incredible that anyone would suggest or question that Tripp didn't follow every step to get it right in the selections of the awards. Wow, I'm just speechless that any adult would try to take away the joy and happiness from a player earning an award.

The only thing I can figure out is maybe it's the "I love Jake Robbins" lady...better known as AgirlYouKnow (not related to that cigar smokin'-beer-drinkin' AGuyYouKnow)

I say there is an 85% chance BBL is not even a woman....these anonymous screen names provide a lot of leeway for creative posting. I know one Dad who had at least three and use to banter back and forth between himself touting his son! That got to be really amusing once you were on to it....

P.S. Sorry my 500th post is a bit of a downer....only 17,465 more posts to catch Braves!
