High School Season Has Started

    3 days into high school tryouts/practice and hardly a peep from anyone. What you seeing out there?

    New coach. Kids love him. Young team. 4 seniors w rest juniors and one sophomore.

    sorry, couldn't help it. I agree, where is the all out anticipation of the HS season that is typically on this board?

    Very young!! The Cougars lineup will most likely include only 2 seniors. However, the offense should be solid with solid hitters up and down the order. Pitching is the question mark. There are plenty of good arms to turn to, however, experience and the lack of a workhorse could present problems. Scrimmages next week against Myers Park and Sun Valley will answer a lot of questions. Opening day is Feb. 28 vs. an always tough Charlotte Christian team followed the next night by South Meck -- a team that I think will make some noise in the SW4A.

    Coach, come on man! To envoke the name of the beloved Ditka? You and I both know you can't hide talent - and the Sabres are loaded. You can't keep hiding from the facts! For SM it's not HOW but HOW MANY!

    Can't have it both ways

    Providence and AK seniors took up 7 of the South Charlotte Panthers roster spots last year.

    Campana, Buttrey, Herbert and Maclatchie from Providence and

    Thornton, Tiller and Stone from Ardrey Kell.

    If SCP and Don are the greatest thing since sliced bread (which many vehemently profess here all the time) then having rosters loaded with these 7 seniors makes them #2 and #3 in 4A in the state period.

    Just for the record......... I have followed the Panthers since Whit Merrifield and Eric Summerville played for them. Even before Richie. And I think the world of Don. I followed them before the current players and their parents even heard of the Panthers. Summerville is now married! That's how long I've been a fan.
