    facility

will games be played at the new complex in Mooresville? When is it scheduled to open?

I heard one of the guys behind this was the man who started Cooperstown Dreams Park, is that true?

He certainly created a formula that works. Great destination, great facilities, great format and great (most of the time) competition. Kids love it, parents love it, umps love it.

If you applied this logic to the older guys you could really make it easy on the scouts.

96 teams a week, everyone wears the same uniform with pants high and either blue or red colors. Each team brings an umpire and pays for them.

    Play ball!

Some may argue that this exists at East Cobb or Jupiter...maybe so.

Sometimes a better mousetrap is right under your nose. It's kinda like politics --- follow the money and you'll find the answer.

    Mooresville

Article in Charlotte observer abt it recently. Cooperstown guy pulled out if the deal to work on a park in Florida. Mooresville deal has been delayed by a year per the article. These fields are for younger kids like Cooperstown Have been there twice w my son. Great place and most beautiful lake I have ever seen.

It was reported in the Lake Norman newspapers yesterday that Lou Presutti had pulled out of the America's Park in Mooresville, causing the grand opening to be pushed back to "sometime in June 2013". Other partners Cernutto and Todd Hines are now looking for $$$ from another source.

The article further states the Lou had previously uprooted on short notice in Louisville, KY and one other place...government officials in those locales were not too happy with "Fast Lou".

Big deals and government participation are not easy to hold together, especially in tough times. The picture they posted of a scowling Lou sure didn't look like the Lou I remember from Cooperstown Dreams Park...

    Money

That's too bad. He built such a great reputation with CDP. It must be really, really hard to make money in the baseball business. Not very many people seem to be able to do it consistently well.

Driving ranges, baseball facilities, bowling alleys... not many Donald Trump's come out of those ventures.

how true is that statement right there?

As it relates to the parks

My information is that Mooresville is moving ahead full steam for opening next year June. Hines and Cernutto are working on a capital raise, but the parks have the full support of the town and by working in conjunction with some pretty big names in the baseball business across the country the plans are pretty amazing.

Justadad is correct in that the parks will be designed for younger kids, but in doing so the parks can be multi-purposed for girls softball as well. The market for the two is pretty significant.

As it relates to the ability to be successful think about it this way---who travels with a bigger group of fans per player 16-18u showcase teams or 11-12u baseball teams/girls fastpitch softball?

If you apply the CDP logic to the older guys it would be amazing, as Tatersalad points out, for the players, scouts, fans etc. Just incredibly hard to make that scale as a business for multiple reasons. Now, that being said, see the post on the Virginia Sports Complex. Schaef and a group of very impressive baseball and business people are doing just that up there so we may just have the best of both worlds all within a few hours of Charlotte.

    Big names absent

Was Jeff Petty invited to the party too? I'd think they would be since they have a very competitive program. For that matter, what about the "other" Canes... The Showcase Baseball Canes. They played a very competitive schedule last summer and fall and had very good results.

Are Mr. Petty and Mr. Robinson sheep?

    Girls softball is the bomb!

I agree 110%. Girls softball is full of raging, rabid fans who will spend every nickel they have to make little "Jenny Finch" a super star. I knew a man who owned one of those photography companies that travels with the tournament circuit and he made obscene money at the girls softball events.

I know Jeff Petty's Canes were invited to play in the Virginia Division. No doubt they have one of the top organizations in the country.

Who is Mr Robinson? If you mean Bo Robinson he is a part of our organization the East Coast Prospects.
