Brody vs Corey ---can't wait to see this one. True Major League talent matches up.

Our best vs your best. Two of the best young talents in the state. Doubt either of them play in college, but if they do---- Clemson vs. USC will be an extension of this rivalry.

Concord trips up Jay M Robinson 2-0

Concord's P. Sweargin, kept the Jay M. Robinson hitters off balance thru out the game with his off speed stuff. B. Koerner suffered the loss by giving up one earned run and having the 2nd score on an three base error. Robinson did not help themselves by hitting into several rally killing double plays. Due to the rain this game was played over two days 3 innings on Friday night and compeleting it Saturday. P. Sweargin took the bump for the Spiders again on Saturday but P. Perry replaced B. Koerner and pitched well but the Bulldawgs just could not muster any offense as Concord went on to defeat Jay M. Robinson 2-0.

 

Unfair

Seems unfair, but that is baseball. Weather puts the game strategy into jeopardy. Hats off to JMR coach for not putting Koerner's arm in danger by pitching him both days. Congrats to the Spiders.

Hmm, I realize the "star power" of these 2 great players and understand exactly what your saying,,,,,,, however, IMO this game will be the "best pitcher in the league" (JMR's Brody) vs. "the 2nd best pitcher in the league" (NW's Smith).

IMO, Corey shouldn't figure into the outcome unless it cant be helped, because while Brody may have a slight edge in pitching over Smith, its only slight. But from a hitting standpoint, NW's team hitting clearly has the edge over JMR, and thats not counting Corey either.

With these 2 great pitchers, I look for it to be a good low scoring game,,,, but again if you let Corey beat you, then hopefully (from your standpoint) it was only because the bases were loaded and you HAD to throw him strikes.

 

I believe the Swaringen kid from Concord HS is the son of another former great pitcher (Robin Swaringen) who wasn't too shabby back in his own day. Led Concord Post 51 to the state semis back in early 70's.

 

tj, his dad's name is Scott. He may be related to Robin but not sure.
