Yes, Mt Tabor won 4-3 in spite of a home run by sophmore Ben Beeson for Davie.

"By the way, SM is by far the biggest ballpark around. It plays huge! Last year there were only 3 HRs hit there all season. This year there's a very very good chance there won't be a single one! Tonight (as usual) there was a nice 2 club breeze blowing straight in from CF. I'm pretty sure Braves couldn't have hit a Titleist out in CF. "

Per the sw4a website this is almost true. Myers parks field is considerably bigger.(40' deeper to center sm is 10' longer down 1st base line) There have been 3 hr hit there this year that I am aware of. Brandon Donahue jr from Ak, Tommy Wayne freshman from mp and Jake hackworth (not sure if I got this name right) freshman from mp.

Sw4a baseball site is very cool. Actually has aerials w dimensions of all the fields. And yes providence is the smallest and s meck is second biggest.

Umpires!!!! Trust me on this, they don't get any better in College either. So unfortunately, we all have to live with them. Speaking of umpires......... I heard that an umpire was intimidated by one of the Coaches (you can guess who) at the Butler/AK game this week. I wasn't there so all I have heard is second hand. Can anyone talk more about this? I love SM's field. The only other one (IMO) that is better in the SW4A is EM. Really like Providence's set up, just can't stand the Little League length fences.

perceptions are funny. i love east mecks field as well but it is almost exactly the same size as providences "Little League" field (actually 10' shorter to center per sw4a website)

    Not so fast my friend

For the record, I never said I liked SM field. Yes Coach Tuscan has done a tremendous job providing a good field to play on. I hate the tiny dugouts and how close they are to.home plate.....and to each other. I don't like the cramped short backstop either. The park played big last year. This year it's a Par 5 with a double dogleg. The thing I like the least is the very limited viewing area. Two thirds of the seats have an obstructed view of some part of the field. If money were no object I'd like to see them move the plate out 20 ft. and put in a new infield to match it. It would shorten the fences and eliminate that tight feel. Of course they'd have to tear out the dugouts and put bigger ones in further down the lines. The home dugout could include a locker room and scond floor pressbox.. Costs? No clue.

    Catholic-Berry/Catholic-Harding

Catholic beat Berry on Tuesday 25-2. Once again, the score speaks for itself. However, on Wednesday night, a tough Harding team scrapped and battled before eventually losing to Catholic 5-1. Chris Clare remains hot for the Cougars with 3 hits on Wednesday while Joey Eberle pitched a complete game 4 hitter. Tough break for Catholic as they lose Wingate signee Eddie Hull for an indefinite period of time as he battles mononucleosis. Catholic travels to East Gaston Friday.

    Bullpens too

Come to think of it. With the extra room gained down the foul lines they could put in new fenced in bullpens. It's time for CMS to pony up. The school is over fifty years old!!!

And then there is Butler's field........ very pleasing to the eye, great playing surface, good foul territory spacing. The dimensions are now perfectly fair with BBCOR bats. Center field at 359 was a little short before BBCOR, but now just right. I'll never understand why MP is 402 to dead center ?? The outfiled now drains better due to being graded behind the left and left center fences by Derek Hodge. Derek has made several contributions to Butler's baseball program and field maintenance efforts. Kudos to him. Friday is a big one with PVD coming to play. I can't wait.....

    Cuthbertson - 0
    Fort Mill, SC - 4

WP - Andrew Tomasovich - CG
    LP - Brian Donovan

After the second inning Tomasovich found his groove like you know he can. Cuthbertson goes back to conference play on Friday. It was great seeing all the old friends from summer ball again.
