Rain and lightning delay in top of the 3rd but finally restarted and completed all 7 innings before the rain came again!

Providence 4 Butler 0

Jackson Campaina and Xander Maddox hit solo HR's at Butler to help the Panthers win 4-0. Mike Herbert pitched 4 innings to get the win and Ty Buttry
gets the save. The Bulldogs only had 2 hits. Dalton Eisenbath gives up 3 earned runs on 4 hits and takes the loss. The game was delayed after 4 complete due to lightning but resumed 45 minutes later. Butler travels to South Meck next Tuesday. It was a pleasure to meet Philly Dave at the game. Our love for seafood was the topic of discussion during the delay. It was a little something to smile about on a tough night for the Bulldogs.......

 

Weddington 10 Porter Ridge 5

Weddington gives up 2 runs on 5 errors in one inning. Sloppy play on both sides, but Weddington bats came alive late after being down. Not a well played game in general.

Nate Borreli with the win for Weddington. David Pope closes it out in the 6th and 7th.

 

If Olympic beats Berry on Monday (Fridays rainout) they will play Charlotte Catholic Tuesday night for the early lead in the Mega-7 conference. Not positive about this but some of the other parents have said it is Olympics best start, not sure of the past history. Anybody know info how the baseball team has started in the past?

The dimensions are what they are BUT......

In my 4 years of attending every game at EM I have only seen one HR to straight away center. That wall is 16' high in center, 12' in the gaps and 8' in right and left. That makes a huge difference over the typical 4' fence. In contrast, in the half dozen games I have seen at providence, I have seen numerous balls hit out in center field.

The fact is it doesn't really matter. Both teams are playing on the same field but I do agree that different fields play bigger or smaller than their actual dimensions.
