Explain the hair ribbon. That is what it is. Just for clarification. The reason for not allowing it in NCHSAA. Is it for some gang related or safety issue? We as parent/fan and coaches need to hear the reason behind the NCHSAA.

I have no idea why they are prohibited.

To get an explanation on the hair ribbon you would need to contact the supervisor of officials. His email is listed on te NCHSAA website.

Wonder how many bats are being used in games that actually have been altered? I'd be willing to bet quite a few. Those people running those ads don't run them for nothing. And no one actually checks for that, either.

There are quite a few people that roll, shave or put racketballs inside of bats. BTW Altering a bat is a violation of Federal law.
During the equipment check I look at the end cap to see if there is evidence that it has been removed.
People that alter bats are very good at what they do. A rolled bat is virtually impossible to detect, if it has been rolled by a skilled metal worker. A shaved bat or one that is stuffed with racketballs can only be detected by looking inside the barrel. It is like corked wood bats, nobody can tell its altered till it breaks.

    Bat stamp

Question regarding a bat stamp.... We had an umpire tonight, who I know and respect first of all, "advise" us tonight to make sure we always carried an approved bat list with us because one of our girls bats had the stamp partially worn off. He stated that once it is worn off past a certain point, to where the stamp can't be identified, the umpires can refer to the approved list if one is available and the bat would be allowed to be used. Now right or wrong, my thought is that if the stamp is no longer visible, the bat probably wouldn't be allowed and secondly, even with an approved list, how will most umpires know which model, etc a particular bat is?

Also, someone else mentioned an ump telling them a bat needed to be restamped. I've never heard of this, so I was just wondering if this is possible.

    Thanks!
