    clarification

Does the booking agent that books umps for HS also book for MS. OK.. UMP John Doe called HS 1 on Tuesday. Will UMP John Doe then get booked to MS 2 on Thursday? Is that the way you get booked to ump games? Or are you HS only?

I always walk a field that I have not been to, or if weather hit the field hard. Playoffs I walk the field wether I've been there before or not.

It depends on the school. NCHSAA only governs High Schools. Middle Schools govern themselves and pick which rule sets to play under. As in HS eiter the school chooses who books for them or the conference votes to use the same umpires. Some MSs use joe umpire to book and others use HS booking agents. The only way to know is to ask your coach or AD who they use.

I umpire all levels. LL, MS, TB, HS and non-conference College. I have one booking agent for LL, MS and HS. Usually Tournament Directors will call me for TB. A couple of different assigners will call me for College games.

Are high school softball coaches involved in making rules?

The NFHS rules committee is made up of 13 individuals and their names and cities they reside in are on page 3 of the rulebook. I am not sure who is on the NCHSAA rules committee or if they even have a rules committee.

Every year they send umpires a survey on the implementation of a few rules.

Last year the NFHS asked a couple of questions with one of them being would we as umpires like to see a verbal base on balls implemented in softball.
