    Tony Tony Tony!

    Tony My Man,
It's the only data I had. What are you seeing there? If you don't have the data just use the chart from my first post. 9 hits is .300 (if there are no errors by your opponent). Anything less is 2-something...............or 1-something.

    Don't shoot the messenger.

I think the only fair way to get an accurate batting avg. is to avg the official scorebook with the other 4 or 5 almost official scorebooks being kept in the bleachers?

Sorry, I had to say it!

(Dude - really NOTHING personal. It was just tooooo easy and I couldn't resist. If it makes you feel better, you helped provide a guy who's 3-4 in conference - two losses in a row - his first laugh of the day. Thanks!)

Still, the argument is flawed. The hang up is in that you keep comparing team averages with individual averages. Take your team that had 5 hits in 26 ABs..... .192 avg, correct? Johnny had 3 of those hits in 3 ABs. Let's say Johnny continues to hit well over an extended period of time, while his "team" average is only .1 something, he may well hit .400 plus.

    Wideout - I said that.

I said that. I'm sure there are a few who are hitting .300, .400 etc..... Ted Williams hit .406.

    I'm not a statistician

Wideout6, if you knew me you'd quickly realize that ain't the only thing "flawed." LOL. My wife has a list of my flaws and if you ask her she'll gladly pull out the list and go over it with you.

Just enjoying TBR and the discussion.

    This is no lie.

I once saw a kid hit a routine groundball (either to SS or 3B), anyway the infielder kicks it, then picks it up, dropped it, kicked it again, I took a bite out of my hotdog, the infielder picked it up for a 3rd time and threw to 1B, only for the batter to be safe on a bangbang play at 1B.

No lie, the PA announcer then announces the kid beat out an infield hit.
