    AK 5 CCDS 1

AK rides Brad Stone's complete game for the win.

Not sure exact stats, but Stone collected 14 or 15 k's.

Jordan Green has the only two hits for the Bucs. BTW, keep an eye on Green --- freshman with excellent baseball savvy already. Four year starter for CCDS for sure...

Explanation on Collins: had some bicep pain/soreness so had to shut it down. Up until then he had 6k's 1 hit and 0 ER though 4.

Explanation on the bomb: fastball that was hit hard and far!

    St. Stephens 2 (8-5, 4-4 NW3A/4A)
    South Caldwell 3 (12-0, 8-0 NW3A/4A)

    WP - Spencer Greer
    LP - Colton Allison (4-1)

The Indians put a scare into South Caldwell last night in Granite Falls. For most of the night Spencer Greer and Colton Allison matched each other pitch for pitch. Konner Klingenberg put SSHS up 1-0 in the top of the 2nd inning with a 2-out RBI single. Greer singled in a run and Dylan Poarch had a sacrifice fly for the Spartans in the bottom of the 3rd for a 2-1 lead.

Greg Lucas hit a clutch 2-out, run scoring double to knot the score at 2 in the top of the 6th inning.

After drawing a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 7th, South's Jake Macchia advanced to 3rd on a wild pickoff throw from Allison. With the infield and outfield drawn in, Gage Parham lifted a single to left-center field to score the winning run.

Greer earned the win tossing 7 complete innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits with 14 striekouts against 3 walks. He also led South Caldwell at the plate going 2-2 with an RBI. Tyler Dillard also had a single for South.

Allison was the tough luck loser, going 6+ innings, allowing 3 earned. He struck out 4, but struggled with control at times issuing 6 walks and hitting 2 Spartan hitters.

Saint was led at the plate Klingenberg and Lucas with a hit and an RBI each. Dillion Spencer and Luke Barton also added hits for the Indians.

Saint hosts Hibriten Thursday night at 6:30pm
South travels to Fred T Foard Thursday night at 7:00

I was a little surprised, but Collins did struggle in the 4th. The double to Henderson hit the draining pipe covering the outfield fence and he walked 2 or 3 batters and had some WP's. One run in the 4th was saved on a great play by Knight to retrieve a WP and get back to the plate for a tagout.
