    Very Good

Her Charleston Southern pitching staff has an ERA of 2.39. They've played the toughest schedule in school history including UCLA, Notre Dame, Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan State, USC, UC-Fullerton, Longwood and Long Beach State. Wins against USC and Notre Dame have been highlights for their 20-17 season thus far.

They've limited opponents to two or fewer runs in 12 of the last 13 games. Unfortunately, the offense has struggled some like in the 1-0 loss at USC-Upstate this past Wednesday. Of course Hannah Alexander had something to with that :) One of those NC players that 'got away'.

I guess it's all good. Every team I watch seems to have enough players. As long as they're pretty evenly matched at the game I'm watching I find it enjoyable.

And there are always those stand out players that make it worthwhile.

    No argument there

Running througn the RPI the other day I did a quick count of the D1 teams I could recall having seen play in the last decade. That number's around 120. Some close to me tell me I need to 'get a life' but I can't find anything much enjoyable than this game. Is that a bad thing?:surprised:

There are lots of kids out there that need a coach. Coaching a team is maybe a little too time-consuming.

My DD didn't play past HS but I've kind of stayed involved working with individual players and assisting a few teams.

It has it's ups and downs but over all it keeps the game fun.

With your experience you can make a big difference in a kid's life.

    other than

Other than California, Texas, Florida. I read in a post here there are 12 D1 schools in NC. I have not researched this. But, who has more D1 than NC? Alabama has maybe 4? Georgia has 4 or 5 maybe? There maybe some states other than the three above in the US that has more than NC. So from that being said, that means players/talent are spread out more here in NC. Go to Alabama and see the girls wanting to play for Alabama or Auburn watch 1000+ show up for a game. To Alabama there are only 2 schools there. Same for Georgia or Georgia Tech. I maybe wrong but I think that the top 2 or 3 D1 schools in NC should do all they can legally to keep the top 10 or so players in NC, in state. Here is something. Why would a local Union Co player chose Auburn over UNC or NC State or a top pitcher from Alexander Central go to Georgia? Just my 2 cents.

Perhaps it tells you something when two of the best senior pitchers are going to the SEC to play. The ACC schools are not making the commitment to softball

The best, brightest and most innovative coaches on this side of the Mississippi are in the SEC, the Big Ten also has a few, I do not blame the kids for leaving, the problem lies in the D1 schools in this state not making the committment. Tarheel baseball is one of the best programs in the country, why, because they have one of the best coaches and staffs in the country, and no I am not Heels fan but I do respect their accomplishments.

Recruiting the player used to be the easy part, but there is also a responsibility to continue to develop the player after she becomes a part of a program..... if you don't, the in-state recruiting advantage becomes tougher....

Coach I could not agree with you more, there seems to be something lost at a lot of schools on continued player development. I used to think if someone was a collegiate coach somehow they knew more then everyone else about developing talent, while there are some goods ones there are many who lack this skill set.
