    Nice to see some great press from Langston Wertz from the Charlotte Observer about Nick Salisbury from Independence. Great kid and well deserved. Extremely hard worker

    Awesome, when did "Skittles" become "Meaty"? Nick is the real deal - I'd take 9 of him anyday.

    Folks called him meaty when he played for mike Gardiner on stealth. Like Salisbury steak.

    It's true that he was Meaty long before he was Skittles but the name was given to him on the way to Cooperstown in 2007 by Ryan Burke who was the umpire we brought along with the 12u Megastars that year. He named him after the little white bulldog on the Rob and Big tv show. I was there at McDonalds when it happened.

    Great story! I always assumed it was a Salisbury steak pun. Cooperstown .....lots of fond memories and short fences.....no sweet tea and bad BBQ.....most beautiful lake I have ever seen

    I almost forgot. You should have seen Ryan and Meaty hangin' out during that trip. You see, Ryan is SIX-TEN! and Meaty was still a Puppy. What a duo!!!!!
