    I believe Billy Enright from Independence was the all SW4A shortstop in 2006.

    What happened?

    When I left it was 4-0 SM. Webcast for SM/AK displays the Butler/Prov game details.

    There are other players throughout the years that are all-league shortstops too. The league does not vote by position.

    Providence 4 Butler 1

    Mike Herbert does it again with an 11K outing to shut down the Bulldogs.
    Matt Baltimore pitched a fine game as well only allowing 1 ER but took the tough luck loss. A few Butler errors were costly and became the difference in the game. Rothman cashed in with a big 2 out two RBI single to put PVD up 3-1 in the 3rd. Malachi Hanes hits a solo HR in the top of that inning. The series this year between these two teams this season was competetive and nerve racking. PVD won 4-0, 4-3 and 4-1.

    Herbert had a great outing last night. His performance reminded me of Ben Buchanan on the bump @ EM, esp. the bounce in his step. Good luck to PHS and the purple knights in the showdown Mon night!

    AK plays Providence tonight in the Championship game. I am sick to my stomach and I don't even have a dog in the fight!!! Go Knights!

    SW4A Championship thoughts and funny

    Although Providence won, Trent Thornton is a real competitor. He's always on his game and will do well at the next level. PHS played better as a team and desired to win.

    Funny moment - Mike Herbert and Ty Buttrey won Co-MVP of the tournament, but there is only one trophy (so while on the field) they did "Rock, Paper, Scissors" to determine who took home the hardware. I guess Herbert won - it was a classic. :)
