Braves, how about giving us a rundown of who you are hearing are the leaders for the job, and who you think would take the program to the next level. I agree with you that UNC-G could be a sleeping giant with the right person in charge.

'Spartanville' is a sleeping giant among mid-major baseball programs, but was never going to realize it's vast potential under Mike Gaski.

Few Division 1 programs have the following combination to offer a head baseball coach interested in building a successful program as does UNCG:

geographic availability of high talent players,
    first rate facilities,
    conference strength,
    potential for local fan interest,
    favorable weather conditions,
    vibrant southern city location,
    quality of education,
    relative cost of attendance,
    cost of living.

A strong case could be made that"no baseball program in America has done less with more than Coach Michael Gaski at UNCG".

A good college baseball program is about having a steady stream of good players, then developing their talent and nurturing their loyalty by having enough coaching ability, encouragement and leadership to foster the team chemistry and synergy which delivers championship caliber baseball. They were the unhappiest group of players in college baseball.

Ask just about any former player about his UNCG experience and you'll find out quickly why this change was necessary. The UNCG job will be one of the hottest baseball coaching jobs available in the country this summer.

Ms. Record -- on behalf of frustrated and disgusted baseball alums, families and supporters everywhere -- thank you for providing UNCG a fighting chance to have a team that we may all be proud to call OUR Spartans!

They don't want to jeopardize their current positions, but they are very interested. All of them would be very capable of making the program successful: They have a history of doing that.

Hearing that the Fla. State connection is still holding strong and true. The Asst. AD over baseball, (Battle) (from Fla. State) who was hired by Ms. Record (Fla. State) was seen meeting with a Fla. State Asst. Coach on campus during the ACC tournament. That's been one of those rumors that floated around during Ms. Records 1st year at UNCG. Guess we'll see. I could see where a coach from Fla. State would generate some interest.

    Mars Hill ??

Anyone heard any news on the Mars Hill head coaching vacancy? I was told by the assistant, the job should be announced by the end of next week. I do know of one good and qualified (former MLB) candidate who applied...........
