    Still want to know why......

I would still like to hear the thoughts on playing the conference games as a home and away in the same week. The Hwy 51 crowd wants a best out of 3 format in the playoffs because that is how baseball is supposed to be. Baseball is played in a best of format during the regular season also but the Hwy 51 crowd doesn't want to address that problem. If you play SM and face Mauldin or Butler and face Eisenbath on Tuesday you should play them again on Friday and see how you do against Oliver or Haynes. Waiting a month to go through the loop again so you can see the number 1's again is not how baseball is supposed to be. So if you are employed as a baseball coach on Hwy 51, be consistent and not self serving.

Happy for Hough and they deserve alot of credit for their run. Yes their are no sw4a teams that got past the first round. But if you want to go there, with a 2 and 5 record Hough would not even be in the playoffs if they were in the sw4a.

So, being that these games were "non-conference", who's to assume that either team were throwing their best available arms? It could be that one team or the other had conference games surrounding the 7 games Hough played against the SW4A. Thus, the 2-5 is not necessarily an accurate indicator of how Hough might have fared in that conference. Either way Hough DID win in round 1....and round 2.....and so on, you get the point.

I would put very little stock in regular season out of conference games. I know in our conference the vast majority of the schools do not bother throwing their 1 or 2 and in many cases even their third pitcher in a non conference game when there are multiple conference games that week.

It is ALL about winning the conference.

NCBlue15, what about Hough's last week of the regular season?

As you said "It is ALL about winning the conference".........
As I recall Hough went into the last week in first place of the all-powerful IMECK and dropped both games to an average Mallard Creek squad. I saw both games and Hough definitely is at best a middle-of-the-pack baseball team. At least that was the case when it was all on the line. They ended up dropping out of first place.
My prediction is Hough will get their hats handed to them this weekend..IN A BIG WAY. Let's just hope it is not embarassing!!!
    Remember....you heard it here.

In spite of this knowledgeable assessment.......GO HUSKIES,!

Could we try to leave the teams that are still playing out of this thread? Those players have played some outstanding baseball the past three or four weeks and have a tremendous opportunity this weekend.

Besides, my senior year we had a sub .500 record against the SW4A in the regular season. Every one of those teams would gladly give up those wins for what I have. A State Championship ring.

    law1ing2b2...... Are you kidding me?

So, let me get this straight. You want to not talk about the successful teams that are still in it? But you DO want to talk about YOUR senior year and YOUR championship ring? What in the world is wrong with making a prediction? If all we talk about is what has already happened, we would lose the SW4A crowd. Oh yea, we have already lost them.
......So, tell all of us more about your high school career.

Because there is a thread dedicated to the 4A series. Throw your predictions there. Everyone seems to want to downplay the accomplishments of the kids that are still playing by coming up with new playoff formats and criticizing their regular season record. The reality is that (and I said it ealier) the current format crowns a worthy champion. Whoever wins two games this weekend deserves to be called a Champion and should be proud of that accomplishment.

No need to talk anymore about my career. I was a part of a very special group of guys that did things that no one thought was possible. Every one of those guys have been and will continue to be like brothers to me. That is a lot more important to me than a piece of jewelry. Many of the kids that play this weekend will likely say the same thing when they get a little (or a lot) older.

Bingo Law...I can't recall many HS games that I played, but I will always remember the State Championship games...and my teammates on that team--40 years later!

There is not a HS coach out there that wouldn't trade positions with the Hough or Middle Creek coaches. It's what they play for---Championships!

As far as series format...Coach Mennitt nailed it. If my team won, I'm happy and ready to move on. If I lost----let's change the format!!! well, he didn't say that....but I read his mind :lmao:

It's all fun talk though--to speculate what's better. I just don't like reading shots taken at any HS coach. Those guys work tirelessly for less than mnimum pay and why?....because they are committed to their kids and love teaching baseball.

95%+ of these HS seniors have played their last game of scholastic baseball. The finality of that may not kick in until after summer ball, but it is a terrible feeling.

I wish we would get back to celebrating the players and thanking the coaches that sacrificed THEIR family time, so they could play a small part in helping your son become a man.

Which brings me to one last remark off topic. Who is the most important member of any team? and makes the most sacrifices?

The coaches wives. Without their support and understanding, there would be very few HS coaches. I have gotten to know many of these ladies and my admiration for them and what they have to go through is amazing! They are truly Angels!

What is flawed here is that HWY 51 somehow worked the system since atleast SINCE 2009 where players were allowed to play at Providence thAT were zoned to schools such as weddington, ardrey Kell and Butler. lets just say HWY 51 knows how to work the system. pROV CC? Guardianship...letz just say theres a connection to SCP and PHS.
