16U ASA Qualifier

    Does anyone have results or order of finish for this past weekends ASA 16u qualifier in Cary, NC?

    2) Lady Lightning Gold Elite
    3) EC Bullets Palazzo
    4) GA Impact Medlam

    2 births were awarded to the 16A National tournament. Oddly, of the 32 team entered in the event, 21 were from GA and only 9 from NC even though the event was hosted in NC this year.

    Might have a little to do with the State Championships and/or the WCWS.

    Or it could be the "must travel long distances" mentality to be seen by all the college coaches—even though most college coaches aren't even aware of the interest in their school.

    State championships: some impact for sure
    WCWS: should impact all states equally
    "must travel long distances" - nationals are one of the best venues to showcase your talents. But, you need to qualify to get there.

    Why

    There were several more NC teams entered early on.
    A couple pulled out because they thought most of their kids would be in Raleigh. The others dropped due to players telling the coach, at the last minute, they had this or that to do, leaving them shorthanded.
    I applaude one of our eastern NC teams for making every effort to play, even willing to play with only 8 players. Some of his kids were actually playing in Raleigh.
