    Good Start

Mooresville Post 66 Moors 8, Stanly County 3
Last sweltering night at Lake Norman High Park the Post 66 Moors spread out the production in their opening win over Post 76 Stanly County. Sort of 'everyone in the pool' without the pool. Seth Hubbard got the scoring started knocking in the first playoff run but the Moors trailed until Mike Elwell ripped a 2 rbi triple and took home on a wild pitch. Utility Man Sam Marshall put it away with a 2 run liner to right in the 8th inning and the Moors cruised home 8-3. Hunter Harvey (W) commanded the mound thru the 5th before reliever's Aaron Harr, Derek Petrosky, and Alex Cagide finished out the game. Way to go, Keep it going.

    Post 66 Moors 5, Stanly County 2
It took Tuesday night and almost part of Wednesday before the pitchers duel finally broke in favor of Post 66. Starting pitcher Logan Beegle carried the game well until a weather delayed 6th inning with the game knotted at 2-2. Coach Johnson choose wisely in putting Mike Elwell on the mound after the 90 minute wait. Elwell pitched masterfully thru the 10th inning when the Moors finally broke the tie. Singles by Ian Edmsiton and Nathan Sharpe started the 10th, Hunter Harvey drove home the go ahead on a fielders choice and Holden Pender belted him home for insurance runs that young Mike Elwell did not need as he sat down the Stanly County side in order for the win. That was some GOOD Baseball.

Stanly County battled back on 4th of July at Lake Norman High Park to force another playoff game this evening. The good news is it seemed everyone got to pitch, the bad news is it seemed everyone had to pitch. Sam Marshall got the start on the mound and gave way after 5 innings to Michael Knight, then Derek Petrosky, Andrew LLoyd, Aaron Harr and finally Ryan James. Avarie was warming up. Seth Hubbard started the scoring with a single then took home on a wild pitch. Ian Edmiston followed in the 6th with a 2 run double. The Moors Mike Elwell was a one man Stanly wrecking crew going 4/4 with 2 doubles and at least 1 rbi every trip to the plate. The men go right back at it tonight leading series 2 games to 1.

Now we know why its a 5 game series. Stanly County got off to a 4 run lead in the first and Post 66 chased all night but never caught up. Tonight at Lake Norman High Park will settle the series. For the Moors Holden Pender was the staring pitcher with relief from Garret Welborne, Andrew lloyd, Ryan James and Derek Petrosy. Trailing 12-2 Coach Jermy Johnson received the heave hoo in the 6th inning for arguing a player not sliding on a force play at second base. That got Post 66 off the mat led by Mike Elwell's slamming a 2 run Homer and Seth Hubbard following up with an inside the park Homer. The comeback faded 3 runs short. For the record Coach Johnson was correct about the slide rule. Exciting rally and hope it keeps going TONIGHT !

    WOW! What A Friday Night

Both the Post 66 Junior and Senior Teams Won Game 5's with 5-4 Scores.

    Post 66 Junior Moors 5, SE Guilford 4 -- Post 66 wins series 3-2
The #1 seeded Junior Moors do make things exciting. Forced to play a game 5 at SE Guilford the week long series and the game came down to a single pitch. For Post 66 Jamie Anderson started on the mound and cruised through the 4th inning followed by Chris Hatley in relief who pitched well also. In the 7th Guilford leading 4-3 stranded their runners thanks in part to a diving stap from right fielder Austin Portelance. Bottom of the 7th and still behind a run the Moors loaded the bases on Josh Ladowskis intentional walk. Portelance was then hit by a pitch driving in Petey Segovia to tie. Now fans nothing in baseball is more exciting than a walk off homer, EXCEPT. With the bases loaded, Trey Ford layed down the Walk-Off Squeeze Bunt and Zac Little roared home to start the celebration...I can not believe you missed this game..

    Post 66 Senior Moors 5, Stanly County 4 -- Post 66 wins series 3-2
You got to believe. Last evening at Lake Norman High Park the Post 66 Moors stopped the the bleeding just in time to prevent Stanly County from winning 3 games in a row. Behind on the score board all night the team appeared out of gas and fast running out of time before the 8th inning awakeing. Lead off Sam Marshall singled and took 2nd on the throw, Nathan Sharp stroked a 2 base gapper driving in the tieing run. With 2 out Hunter Harvey then launched a towering pop fly that somehow found grass between 2nd base and right field bringing in Sharp the go ahead run. Alex Cagide and Deyren Booth kept it going for the insurance run and the 5-3 lead. The pitching was a shared masterpiece. Hunter Harvey commanded the mound thru 3 innings then Logan Beegle came on for his 3 innings followed by reliever Mike Elwell and closer Alex Cagide (W) held things together for the 1 run win. You Got To Believe

Mooresville Post 66 vs. Statesville Post 65

Careful what you wish for. Teams wanted to play each other, they got it, here goes...

    Mooresville Post 66 Moors 10, Post 65 Statesville 17
Ouch from the start. Statesville was ready and jumped out ot a 5-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, Moors answered with Rbi single from Hunter Harvey and rbi double from Mike Elwell in bottom of 1st. That was as close as the Moors would come all night when statesville continued the hit parade. Starting for Post 66 on the mound, Ryan James hung thru 5 innings, Derek Petrosky in relief and Andrew lloyd closed the game. Seth Hubbard went up and over the center field fence to steal a homer from colt corley, just like on tv, incredible play.

    Post 66 Moors 8, Statesville 6
Game 2 began an ended in exact reverse. Visiting Moors brought out the wood(old school for hitting well) an led the entire contest. The first 5 batters got hits, none bigger than Home Runs from Jack Edmiston and Mike Elwell. Even before stepping on the mound Post 66 starting pitcher Sam Marshall had a 5 run lead in his pocket. Marshall held the Statesville attack to 3 runs as he pitched into the 9th inning. Alex Cagide came on to close the game, squelching the Statesville rally just short. Outstanding effort from Sam Marshall.

    Post 66 Moors 7, Statesville 8
With a soggy field and threatening clouds the Only thing certain here was that somebody had to win and somebody had to lose. Close contest through-out the evening with the lead changing hands 4 times. Both starting pitchers put on a show with the Moors Hunter Harvey holding a 3-0 lead thru the 6th inning. Aaron Harr, came on in relief, then Derek Petrosky before giving way to Alex Cagide who finished the game. Jack Edmiston smacked another home run for the second night in a row but the Moors left the bases loaded twice without pushing over runs and that proved the difference in the game. So...

I don't have any details, however the Junior Moors won 3-0 last night over Rowan in game 1. Jamie Anderson started.
Game 2 tonight Wednesday at 7:00 at Cawtaba College.

Game 2 in Junior Division was a 6-1 win for Rowan over Post 66 Moors. Game #3 tonight at Lake Norman High Park.

Yes the Moors did knock off Rowan County 3 games to 2 to win series. Game 5 was 1-0, as the young Post 66 squad, made up of freshman and sophomores only, used pitching to win their 3 games.(3-0, 4-3, and 1-0). They were also able to win 1st and 2nd round series missing key players each game do to family obligations and trips. Hopefully, they can get everyone together for the Swansboro trip!

Did hear they won after I posted. My understanding is that they will have everyone back for State Tourney but have a couple of key players that are nursing some injuries but hopefully will be ready to go for Friday first game of State!
