Today, Mobile beat Triangle 13-6 to advance to tomorrow's Championship.

South Orlando then topped Covington County AL and Triangle to set up the rematch with Mobile.

South Orlando walked off on Triangle after trailing 4-2, 2 outs, and nobody on base. 2 singles and a HR later, they are going to the 'ship vs the college loaded Mobile squad.

 

Ouch!!! I feel for ya buddy. Great job, great season and great players. We're proud of ya!

Mobile beat South Orlando 7-3 and will advance to the World Series in Texas for about the 200th time.

 

Mobile Alabama Baseball

Hey JM 15: The team that is at World series is not the Mobile Rawdogs. Coach Tony Hendrix who always coaches Rawdogs took the 16u team this year and played the 18u schedule. The Rawdogs actually beat the Matthews Team in State Tournament with a 16u team. The Alabama Rawdogs will be back in 2013 and with the 16 year olds that he had, they will be a really good team for next 2 years. Coach Tony has won 7 world series and should get another in next 2 years. I watched your team in Alex City and they were good team. What happened to Jimmy Boyd. I know some people think that Mobile cheats but they are the only program in town, Tony has kept Legion and other organizations from getting his players. Local College coaches will send them all there age eligible players. Just wanted you to know.

 

Yeah I was aware of the Mathews Park/Rawdogs situation this year as explained to me down in Alex City by some guys. Thanks for the clarification though. We were down a few players in Alex City that played with us all summer because they could not get off work. Not saying these guys would of pushed us by South Orlando or Mobile, but they would of gave us a little more power (#4 and #5 hitters in lineup were missing).
Boyd played his senior year and was the area player of the year, state championship MVP, and signed with Brunswick Community College. A week after his school season ended, he had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder which has kept him away from baseball all summer. He will miss part of/all of the fall as well with the recovery. He would have been playing with us this summer if he was healthy but he played all school year with the torn labrum, and opted to get surgery after the state championship run versus waiting much longer.
As for your comment about Mobile cheating, I do not think that at all. However, it is frustrating knowing how loaded the Mobile team(s) are every year when you prepare for the Regional. Legion Ball/Showcase ball is dominant in NC and that is where players play. There are not many Babe Ruth leagues in NC for this age group at all. Most summers, I have to find guys who are not selected for their local Legion team to form my team. If we had the luxory of bringing the top guys from the area like Tony does, we could give them Dogs a run for their money one day. haha!

Next year the regional is reportedly in Eastern NC (Havelock) so it will be fun to have Tony's Rawdogs come up to our part of the region. We enjoyed our trip down to Alex City and hope to be back in the SER next summer.

Tony told Matthews team that ENC would be team to beat this year. World Series is supposed to be in Andalusia Alabama next year. Sorry to hear about the Boyd kid he was a good pitcher in Va 2 yrs ago. Do you coach or just follow team.
