I am not sure if this is where i am suppose to post at but:

I am looking for a showcase team for my son. he is 14 years old with a birthday in December. He is a Catcher/Pitcher/1st Baseman. He will be a freshman in the new school year.

Last year in middle school ball he received the MVP, offensive player of the year with a .697 batting average and defensive player of the year.

He bats right and throw right. His fastball speed averages 82mph.

If anyone has any suggestions or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone has any comments good or bad about showcase please let me know.

    Thanks

If he is an incoming freshman and throws 82...

Western Forsyth county, specifically Clemmons is definetely nicer than K-Vegas. I am sure cat36 would agree.:roflmao:

Love the sinner - hate the sin.

    [[[[[JUST a JOKE guys!]]]]]

And he's only LOOKING to play showcase - can still be saved...

(Mr. Catchersrock1997, this is all in fun. Hopefully someone will step in and answer your question. In fact, I may PM you with a couple of numbers you can contact. Anyone shocked?)

Well, at your son's age, it's not really showcase. Showcase are tournaments developed for college recruiters and it's a little early for that.

I would suggest a strong travel ball team, but would need the area you are from to recommend a particular team(s).

Now having said that, many of the "showcase" teams have young teams they play good competition and some of them are "development academies." They are excellent in their instructions and really do develop their players....but with that development comes with a price. If money is not a great concern then that would be the avenue to explore.

If your son is 14 and throwing 82, you may want to find an outstanding pitching coach that can fine tune his mechanics. I've seen so many kids with great arms get overused and poor mechanics and by the time they hit their senior year or college; most are calling Dr Andrews in Birmingham.

You guys are too funny on here tonight? I am not looking for specifically showcase for my son, would love a great travel ball team. My son wants to play baseball and we both want to be on a good team. I am tired of of this Daddy ball.. I prefer my son not be a pitcher because he is an outstanding catcher. We live outside of Wilmington and unfortuantely there are no good travel ball teams around here. My problem would be trying to get to practice all the time if he played on a travel ball team out of town.

But I hear alot of teams at his age do not practice all that much anymore, id=s that true?

Sadly, that practice aspect (lack of) is true. There are very few/limited(no) practices. Yet, somehow, amazingly, they develop all these players for the next level. (OK - I'll stop...)

The exception (allowing for practicing) would possibly be a team tied into a facility (hitting, training, speed and agility, etc.) especially with it's own fields - almost unheard of.
