You know. I am going to go on another thread and explain how great the Gaston Braves played and what the two men pitching the last two nights accomplished and celebrate the fine baseball team and organization they are. But before I do, I am going to explain to you the truths of baseball.

Caldwell County won the first two games of this series by making Gaston pay for fielding errors. Gaston had not lost a game in their first two series. They destroyed Hickory and Henderson and rested. Meanwhile, Caldwell Post 29 defeated Mint Hill in a highly emotional series and went right into the Gaston Braves. Those young men were tired and playing on emotion until a car hits two players in a parking lot in Belmont. They were tired, hurt, and emotion was out the window when Gaston quit making mistakes and started making great plays. I am not saying that the accident in Belmont caused Post 29 to lose, but Post 29 hit a wall and that was another brick in that wall.

Caldwell Post 29 lost this series to a team thats loaded with talent. In other words, "DEM GUYS GOOD." So for you to sit at a computer and attack that team, staff and coaches for holding things together with duct tape and fishing line, which I think is aisle 8 or 9 in Food Lion, you should apologize now. For you accusing this team of being cocky, you should apologize to the Gaston Braves and praise them for not quitting when they had the chance.

And finally, anyone who wants to disagree with me thats fine and you are entitled to your opinions. But calling any of those men on that field tonight anything but great baseball players with tremendous heart is a farce. And for anyone in Caldwell Co to degrade those men who almost tied that game in the ninth after everything Post 29 has been through. You are performing a disservice and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Sounded like Reporter gave an honest assessment of the game. Didn't make personal attacks but told what contributed to the CC loss. Heaven forbid he not blow smoke and give those of us not in attendance a glimpse at what may have caused a turning point in the series.

I'm also confused about something; when is correct to call them kids and when should we call them men? Just wondering.

Good luck to Caldwell in the state tournament. Hopefully Cherryville will be joining you.

You made a lot of great points there. The fact that someone from Caldwell Co. is second guessing coaches and players is nothing new and it made me angry. You don't go attacking Bobby on this site and turn around to his face and tell him what a great job he does. I bet no one blamed him for losing 3 straight this year. You guys do it right. If Cherryville wins or loses, they win or lose. You still support them through thick and thin and I wish people here would do the same.

As for your question about how to address players as men or kids, that's a great question. And I do it a lot. When they make kid mistakes, I am the first to jump on the bandwagon of they are under 20 years old and are kids. But when they do great things, I call them young men. I see the same thing done on ESPN and when players are drafted and make mistakes, they refer to them as kids a lot. When is the cut off and how should that be determined?

Downsouth, sorry i hurt your fellings but I was just honestly reporting what I saw. I live South Caldwell athletics and Caldwell Legion Ball. Have for many years. But when players who are now men don't do there job I have no problem calling them out. Happened to me when i played. This team has great guys and great players but they had Gaston beat. Their pitcher was done after the first inning and instead of putting the hammer down and playing hard we let up and put it on cruise control. All of the mistakes we made were mental ones. Eaxamples not taking the easy outs on bunts, throwing a ball 3 feet instead of just stepping on the bag for out three, and worst of all early in the game you have put up 4 runs to start the game come out in next inning have first 2 guys get on sac bunt them over to second and third which is fine but then facing a pitcher who has got anybody out yet you try a straight steal of home??????? Ran themselves right out of a big inning and gave momentum to Gaston. That one play gave them life and fired up a beaten team. I told the guy next to me 2 innings later that one mistake may come back and cost Caldwell the whole series and this was when we were still up 2 games to none and ahead in this game. you could see the shift right there. What was it Yogi said. this game is 90% mental and 30% physical. Well his math was bad but his phylosophy was dead on lol. I'll be there supporting our guys at the state tournament, just hope they learn from there mistakes

I know you live for Caldwell County athletics man, and my anger last night was not just directed at you. When I was walking to the pressbox before the game last night, a man who I have never seen before said "you guys are about to sh*t this way, you deserve to lose." That got me cooking I am sorry I took it out on just you. The fact people in Caldwell Co want this team to fail so they can say they could do it better bothers me to no end. The fact that people across Western North Carolina HATE this program bothers me.

As for the things that happened in the series, there are some things you don't realize. You have to sac bunt to win. Ask anyone. Plus you know Post 29 forced 4 errors in the eighth inning of game one. Three were on bunts. Last night, Caldwell Co amassed four hits. The first two were on bunts. And did you know Caldwell Co. has stolen home five times this year. Four on straight steals, three times against Mint Hill alone. That was the first time it didnt work. The fact they knew Gaston had made error after error in the first two games, they were trying to make them make a play. Also, back to what I said to Luigi, Bobby does that ALOT. Its risk vs reward. Sometimes it fails. Bobby looks stupid when it doesn't work too, but no one gets on here and blames him.

Brandon Banks has 46 wins in two years and they still have a great shot at winning the State Tournament. I think he deserves alot more respect than what people in this area give him.

Caldwell County fans have passion for their baseball... I think this might be one of those deal's (like a parent) where I can say what ever I want about my kids but by damn nobody else better say anything..

I hate we lost...but we do have a state tournament to get excited about.

The playoffs of 2012 was a hell of a run for Caldwell County...Lets recap...One coach gets suspended for five games...another coach is in the hospital for two days and a night...two Caldwell County players gets hit by a car at MacDonald's and spends half the night at the hospital....that's a lot to overcome people....and stay focused
