I think that today is the day for UNCG....from what I hear an offer will be made to someone, just not sure who it will be. Odds on favorite is Link Jarrett. This has been a long drawn out search and so many rumored candidates, so it is anyone's best guess. IMO Jarrett is the only one that stands out. Anyone have any insight???

I guess they just can't make up their minds or it was offered and waiting on answer or offered and turned down. I have no news or insights...anyone else hearing anything???

From what I'm hearing the offer and amount budgetted hasn't been worth a move for a couple of the top candidates. A top candidate would need a full relo package, competitive salary and incentives, and enough to support top assistants.
This is a little embarrasing as word has gotten around.

Maybe they not offering what everyone has been saying. Gaski was only paid around $63k which is a complete joke. For someone who started the program and has been there for 20+ years to be paid closer to an assistant coach than head coach is embarrassing. And now all of a sudden they going to decide to pay head coach $90k+ or actually now it sounds like thats not true either.

Sad to hear they can't or won't make the commitment for the level they say they want, but not equal to what the market is. This on top of telling at least one candidate (well qualified) who would die to take this program and build for the long term. Again, what concerns me if they are so reluntant to pay, "if" they do hire the top assistants / candidates currently how long will they stick with the program before the next higher paying job opens up? This long drawn out process is potentially setting up for a short wam bam thank you mam finish in the not to distant future. Maybe they are hoping Coach Fox, Avant, Leggett will wake up and want to work for free!

Sounds like what I heard. A top assistant coach that use to coach in North Carolina didn't even get a interview because they figured he wanted to much money. He had several top coaches call and put in a good word for him. He would not have been that expensive. Maybe they want to make it a club sport? Go figure..

They did not interview a couple very good assistants that applied for it. One right down the street from them.

One of the less obvious risks associated with a delay like this is that the eventual head coach's first choice(s) as assistants get hired into vacancies elsewhere before he has the license to hire them, himself. This is the time of year when the fallen dominoes are being picked up and put in order.
