I figured I would get Carolina Man rolling. The truth hurts dude! You know as well as anybody of your own team's bush-league behavior. Bad calls are part of the game. Teach your organization to accept the bad with the good because that's what American Legion is all about -- helping these young people develop into responsible young men. It's a shame that Caldwell County has forgotten the essence of the American Legion Code of Sportsmanship.

According to the Lenoir News-Topic, the umpire originally called the runner out, but reversed the call when he saw the ball was on the ground. Is this true? Since you were at the game and are an umpire yourself, I figured you'd be the most objective person on this thread to ask about this. Was the "out" signal ever given by this umpire? Thanks.

In this instance no definitive "out" call was made. It.s a play that is an easy call to make and quite frankly is being blown out of proportion because of the magnitude of the game.

The goal is to get the call correct and the umpire did.

Bottom line after all was done is Caldwell needed to score more. Bad call or not, we can agree to disagree.

If Non E Mous is such a great umpire, why were you not on the field?

Caldwell is not a disgrace. You had a coach backing up his team and he argued the call and got tossed. The umpire didn't even see the complete play. He is horrible. His crew didn't have enough guts to help him out.

Respectfully disagree. Had nothing to do with lack of guts. Had everything to do with great timing and what constitutes a legal tag.
I understand that fans get upset but if you understood the rule and put your bias aside you would understand.
