Cano is giving credit to his power and avg. to the net drill or fence drill! If you google unique homerun drill you can read all about it. He talks about using this drill everyday from the front toss position to make his swing short and powerful He said he had never hit 20 HR in a season till he.used this drill Might be something that will work for a lot of players! Thought I would share I know I have used this drill but just to show a player he had a long flat swing!

    Drills and Training Tools

Not sure why Cano went 0 for 10 in HR Derby? Must have left the L-screen in NY.

But seriously, there was a good interview on the MLB network that went really in depth into how and when he gives advice or uses the drill. He also uses a short 40oz bat. Different tools in the right coaches tool box.

What interests me is Granderson. On a commercial, they show him with parents, then training, swinging with a golf training aid called the Hank Haney "Power Connection". The blue vest has a strap that clips on the vest at your chest, and to a clip that attaches to the handle of the golf club. Staying "connected", and not leaving your hands behind. Has anyone seen this? The training aid actually works...for golf. I was just surprised to see an MLB hitter using one....in public.

    Connection

Jack Mankins has a device that connects above the elbows and adjusts to a players distance between his elbows at setup that makes you rotate your shoulders instead of getting in the power v. I have seen one used and it works good. I think it is doing the same as the device for golf. He has a website that you can see it. Cano did have a bad derby but he is a great hitter. Think the Royal fans had something to do with his derby performance!
