How about the BIG 1st round games in the 3A & 4A brackets!!! I'm only looking at teams I am familiar with (west brackets) - please add your own. Might be BETTER games here - but I think these six will be ones to watch.
All rankings listed are according to maxpreps.com rankings as of 5/5:

    4A
Ardrey Kell (#4) vs. Davie (#5)
-Wow....2 heavyweights in round 1 - should be a great one!

    North Davidson (#9) vs. Providence
-Providence has struggled in the playoffs in recent years...but they are STILL Providence and play in one of the toughest conferences in the state

    Hopewell vs. South Caldwell
    -Battle of perennial big dogs

    3A
Marvin Ridge (#6) vs. Hickory Ridge
-Battle of the Ridge. Hickory was the best team in the SPC for most of the season until a collapse at the end....should be a battle with some players back healthy.

Charlotte Catholic (#18) vs. West Rowan (#25)
-North Piedmont where Falcons play is a good conference - they are better than most 4 seeds.

    Carson (#9) vs. Robinson
-Robinson shutout Hickory Ridge twice in a row to end the conference season and with ECU commit Phil Perry on the bump, they can play....but Carson is really good and has played a tough schedule.

I am a little biased but........ I am still trying to figure out how max preps figure their rankings. I see teams with worse records ranked above teams that have beat them and with better records. I am just curious??? we all know these rankings (along with others) mean absolutely nothing, but still curious. Unfortunately high school kids actually follow and look at these. Sometimes they actually BELIVE in these rankings

First, I didn't know old retiree types looked at new-fangled computers.:roflmao:

Second, while I know NCHSAA is "partnered" with MP, I concluded I would never look at it (OK I have a couple times in 6 years) or submit to it when I was scouting a team one night and saw a DAD on a laptop typing away from the bleachers. When I just casually asked what he was working on at a game, he told me he was entering game stats for this site called MaxPreps. A dad entering game stats? Maybe his were 100% legit and maybe he could teach me a thing or two about scoring and blah, blah, blah - but that turned me off to it right then and there...

Agree 100% -- put them up just to get the discussion rolling. Rankings mean NOTHING this time of year......good luck to all the teams!

Davie and Ardrey Kell should be a battle with the winner to face the winner of West Forsyth and Western Guilford - tough pod of four teams to come out of.

Olympic wins 10-0 in 6 innings. "BIG O...U Know!!!"

It was good to see Stacy and John Owens at the game. Best advice to pitchers is to have your underwear wet (be FULLY warmed up) when the ump says play ball. Have the last 9 pitches I'd your bullpen simulate the first 3 batters. Olymipic jumped to a 4-0 lead in the 1st, 2 more in 4th and 4 in 6th.

Logan Redmond pitched a great game. In control of 3 pitches the whole game. With solid defense.
