    It would be a shame . . .

if UNCW were not an option for young women wanting to play college softball. It's a fantastic school. The new AD has made changes and commitments that give program a chance to succeed. I think many of the TB coaches in the state are recognizing it. Some talented student-athletes have committed to play there.

I was asked to post this

I have received numerous texts, emails, and phone calls asking for help and what folks can do.

You can email the chancellor at [email protected]
I don't think this is a wise decision for UNCW to remove softball and it will limit the number of opportunities for our kids.
The chancellor has said he would read every email but not respond.
I would ask that all of us who have a vested interest in what goes on in our colleges and universities, send an email. Be nice!
Let's see if we can make a difference in the outcome of the decision.
    Respectfully,

    Just wondering

If schools like UNCW have any Corps. like NIKE or Addias or Under-Armor. Bats donated by LS or Easton, Uniforms by Nike or some other. I know that a girl may like a certian bat and that is a personel choice. But to have the bats and uniform or shoes supplied to them. Does UNCW have these "perks". That is money that come out of the schools sports budget. It may not be a $100K.00 savings but will account for something. I don't know if smaller schools have this type of system. I know that the larger schools in the UNC system have this. I have read that a conference change may could help. Travel to other schools in NY, NJ or PA can be a burden and expence. Than have to travel to a school in NC or SC. Gas or diesel at $4.00 adds up. But is cheaper than a plane ticket to NY or Pa. I hope that the AD and the powers that be have thought all these things rather than shutting down a program. Even shutting down 5 sports at the school. Call Micheal Jordan he's from Wilmington, ask for a donation.......
