Showcase ball at what age

    Curious about opinions. How young should girls be playing 18u showcase? I know big D-1 teams are two or three years out picking players but most girls around here will not go to major D-1 teams no matter what organazation they are with. Verbal commitments don't mean a lot for both sides.

    If she is playing in HS she should be old enough to play 18U showcase. Freshmen in HS play against SR's every year...

    My daughter was playing 18u at 14 on occasion and for good at 15. Like Piedmont said, she played against seniors at 14, there is no difference. But playing with the older players made her step her game up. :)

    There is a point where playing up is ludicrous. Your daughter has to have the skill sets that allow her to compete at that level and earn the playing time that will guarantee continual growth. It does no good to play up if you are playing bench.

    I would start her at the 14u level and stay at 16u as long as she can because that's where most of the coaches are at.
