He knew it would be an eye opener for them. They are still a young 14U team (first year). They will get better and better playing against some tough competition. ..........But I'm sure losing stings though.

    Vipers beat EC Bullets
    Cardinals-Black Beat Impact Silver
Then the monsoon hit.Vipers get the berth,by giving up 2 less runs than the Cards.Would like to have played it out,but that's the way it goes sometimes. Some very good teams at this tourney.Impact Silver one of the toughest I've seen in a while.

Those Atlanta area teams beat on each other all the time. They are better because they have learned what it takes to win games against quality teams. I talked with my friends from the Bullets and they were impressed with the Cardinals pitcher. Impact Silver and the Atlanta Vipers are two good teams.

The GA teams are just more experienced this time of the TB season, not necessarily better. Since GA HS ball is in the fall, these teams have been playing travel ball all spring. Give our NC teams a few tourneys under their belt and I would think our girls can compete with and beat any team from GA or anywhere else.

Another thing about this qualifier, I think there needs to be a real push for the Cardinals to receive an at large bid to the Nationals. (I would feel this way regardless of the NC team involved, not just because it is the Cardinals)

There are at large bids out there and they can be used for type of situation. I know this is the case because 2 years ago a rain out canceled an 18U qualifier in GA with only 2 teams left in the winners bracket and both teams were given bids to the nationals. The winner was determined by a coin flip. The other team was given an at large.

The Cardinals-Chandler was the team that received the at large and went on to win the ASA State (and also went on to win the nationals) We were able to pass the state bid down so another NC team could go the Nationals. And IMO, getting as many NC to nationals in all divisions should be the goal.

Hopefully Rick and Tony with NCASA will be able make a case for both of the still undefeated team in this qualifier to receive bids.

Bmac1 I hope the Cardinals get that berth. There is a chance to prove if your theory is right. Try this teams fall tourney http://www.ngmaddogs.org/ 10U-14U only.
The tournament wont be posted yet. It is called Who's Who. This is about a 3 hour drive from the Charlotte area right off I-85 Hoschton,GA. This tournament is right after Georgia's school season wraps up. I think you will find there isn't that much difference in those teams performance between summer and fall. You also have to compete in the age group your team will play in 2009. This tournament will have all the teams from GA and TN that where in ASA Nationals.

    Talent

The talent level in Wilmington was crazy. The GA. teams were great and the Cards were as well; the Storm came out weak in the pool games. We seamed to get it rolling in the bracket taking the GA. Extreme late in the game before losing there, we won the next game by the run rule playing the Bigstyxx, next up the GA. Titians again late in the game 6th inning I think, had a 1 to 0 lead but fell short. Most of the teams there were second year I think the Cards black are to(?). What I saw as the most impressive was the Vipers they were first year, with only two players moving up and it is not pitching. I must also throw out a shout to the Dazzle team There last bracket game was a wild 12 inning game fun to watch, did not want to see you lose that one. I think that in the Storms and other teams second year the NC teams will be just as impressive. Cards Black not sure your year but you represented well.

daddydobber I know the Cards were undefeated in bracket play and they beat 94 East Cobb Bullets in pool play.
Breakwater that Viper team is 100% first year 14's. Their whole team returns. They wont consider a 93 kid. That is the coaches and organization approach.
94 East Cobb Bullets has 1 93 on the roster. There CF will move up.
East Cobb Bullets Blue has at least one 94 the rest are 93's
Impact Silver has two 94's and the rest 93's.
Georgia Extreme has one 94 and the rest are 93's
Titans are mostly 93's but I don't know the exact number.
