There are going to be some great first round match ups this year. Post the games you feel will be very good games in the first round. We all know that upsets are a part of every tourney. But what match ups do you see as being very competitive first round games. My pick.

    Northern Nash vs Southern Alamance

    Tyler Joyner vs Jason Groce

Northern Nash is the #3 seed from the New 6 and Southern is the #2 from the Mid State. How about drawing a #3 seed and you have to face Tyler Joyner in the first round. This should be a great game.

    CPC-SW4A Clashes

Opening round game between the 2 seed from CPC (currently West Forsyth if Mt. Tabor does not win the tournament) vs. either Weddington or Providence.

Butler will be no picanic for North Davidson either.

Two good teams are going to be done early here.

In Western NC, these are the opening round games that can be a battle. If the favorite does not come with their "A" game and the underdog does....upset city, baby!!!!

    CPC #1 North Davidson
    SW #5 Butler

    MECA #2 Hopewell/North Meck**
    NW #4 Alexander Central

    Metro #3 NW Gilford/Greensboro Grimsley****
    SW #3 Providence/Myers Park***

    CPC #2 West Forsyth/Mt. Tabor*****
    SW #4 Weddington/Providence***

I copied this part of the post from another thread I posted in:

Right now, everybody starts out with the same record. The beginning of the playoffs are so tough. Most teams have at least one stud pitcher and since it is "one and done", anybody can be beat.

Some of the best teams never make it to the show. The one and done's can give coaches ulcers.

History has proven this to be true. The coaches that try to outsmart everyone by saving their ace for the next round, tend to become spectators instead. You have to treat each game as it's the Championship.

In the 3A east, whoever gets Grays Creek from the Cape Fear Valley Conference will likely face lefty soph. Brandon Brown. I'm hearing lots of good things about that pitcher. The Cape Fear Valley Conference will do well in the playoffs. It's probably the toughest in the east, which will have them all well prepared.
