How far a drive is that any way? Not two kids with the pedal mashed on a road trip - but an activity bus full of players and coaches. That has to take 7-8 hours. For a first round playoff game? That is so stupid.

This is among the reasons why the A and AA stuff needs to return back to a single class state tournament. I remember back in 2002 or 2003 when Mitchell traveled over 5 hours one way to play (and lose) a first round game at South Columbus (5 hours & change, 575 mile round trip).

But to answer your question, according to Mapquest, the distance between Duplin County and Cherokee is 6 hours one way and change, culminating around 750 mile round trip. Pathetic.

Did they drive up yesterday? This would have seemed to be the best idea with a drive that far. Otherwise they would've had to drive up starting bout 9 or something this morning. It'd be almost impossible to be as fresh as possible to play after driving for that long on an activity bus.
