Devil's JV have shown they can swing the sticks. Probably one of the better hitting teams in the conference.
The Devil's pitching has really come along also. AJ Nelson has definitely placed himself as the ace by his performances. Andrew Meadows is a great freshman and has shown some real potential and has given the Devil's a few SOLID outings. Chris Blotcher is not to forget either, he has a strong arm and is showing some much needed potential also. Bradley Miller has thrown the ball well in his few outings also. Look forward to seeing what Steven Calhoun can bring to the table, as the only time he pitched he was hit pretty well, but he was sick also, and nobody knew it!

Biggest surprise this year for me, is the stellar play of the Devil's freshman.

Including, (but not limited to) Andrew Meadows and Chris Blotcher on the mound, but especially Ryan Brennan at the plate. He has hit the crap out of the ball! Hitting everything from the low 70's to the high 80's, from fastballs to curveballs to change pieces. This kid can play.

I hear JV is picking Josh Skidmore up again also. That picks up a defensive genious, and another strong bat to round out the line up.

Devil's JV is gonna be a tough bout for anyone this year. Should see some good competition.

Come warmer weather when double headers start, may be a good idea to take off a few hours earlier (never hurts to get out of work early!) and come catch your teams JV too, going to be just as tough of a conference at the JV level as at the varsity!

Mooresville vs. Statesville today at 4

Mooresville JV Devils will be bringing back shortstop Josh Skidmore in the line-up. This line-up change will move short stop Joe Cobb to start in the right field slot.
Mooresville is not taking this game lightly as they are starting their hard throwing righty and Mooresvilles ace AJ Nelson.

Mooresville defeated Statesville last night 23-0

Almost all 19 Mooresville players hit the ball well.

Nelson threw 3 1/3 while striking out 10. Nelson gave up only one hit which was a bunt.

Statesville's outfield was filled with errors, could not get the bat on the ball at all and the pitching was very off as well.

    Good practice game for Mooresville.

Nelson has 21 k's on the year in 3 appearances (8 2/3 inns.)
Andrew Meadows hits 1st homerun of the year for the Devils
