    Here are the match ups:

Alexander Central @ Patton...1st ever meeting between the two
    AC Reynolds @ Watauga...Old NW4A match up
South Caldwell @ East Burke...Another old NW4A match up
Newton Conover @ Fred T Foard....probably a lot of points scored
Hickory @ North Lincoln...Hickory may have awakened
St Stephens @ Maiden... Old CVAC rivalry
    Hibriten is idle

I think Alexander Central goes to 5-0 but it will likely be close.

AC Reynolds should beat Watauga but sometimes strange things happen in Boone.

East Burke over South Caldwell in a low scoring game.

Newton Conover has too much for Foard

Hickory is a dangerous team now that they have tasted victory

St Stephens @ Maiden should be a very good game. I take Maiden in a very close one.

    Any switching??

I remember seeing in the preseason most everybody was saying that Hickory would win the conference and AC would finish 2-4 somewhere in there. Anybody think things may be a little different or are they still sticking with their original predictions? Looks like just as it was in the old NW4A conference, defense will hold serve in who wins and loses the conference. Isn't a matter of how much you can score... but whether or not your defense can stand up in the time of need and be accounted for and hold serve!

Alexander Central is underrated, and may have certainly been so at the beginning of the season. The shut out win against Davie County and holding a strong offense in West Iredell to only 7 points proves that AC will win on defense. The Hibriten game at the end of the season may be for the conference title.

Hickory has been ravaged by injuries. The JV squad had gone some 66 games in a row without a loss. They've started the season 0-3 because many of the players have been called up to varsity because of the injuries.

AC will definately win on defense the front 7 is the 2nd best i ever seen at AC second only to the one kyle linneys senior year where the front four made all conference..but this year i thnk its very possible we have 4 or 5 outta the front 7 make all conference...The O will come around an is due to explode when chapman comes back to spell bradshaw an catch some passses... i cant even imagine this kid one on one with any corner in the 4A. he'll run them over... I agree the Hibriten game will be for the conference title and prlly a high seed in the playoffs.

    ...

AC will get a high seed in the playoffs anyway, whether they beat Hibriten or not. Well maybe I should say they should get a high seed. The Hibriten game shouldn't keep them from getting the top 4A seed for the conf. Now it may determine who is the out right conf. champ but again should have no meaning as far as top playoff seed for 4A. That is of course IF AC takes care of business.

Let's get by Patton before we think about anyone else. Panthers are good and athletic, Cougars better bring their A Game or they could be upset.
