Wasn't there something like this that happened in last years College World Series....She wasn't allowed to wear a band-aid of any type...I just cant think of the teams name...However, it was an issue.

Once again,I don't have a dog in this fight! But there's a reason that a pitcher keeps consistantly going to her back pocket(on each pitch)and it's not to scratch. Simple solution-STOP! How hard could it be! UNLESS!:icon_bs:

You are supposed to keep rosin bags in plain view when in use and on the ground when not in use. "Under the supervision and control of the umpire." So you cant keep a rosin bag in the back pocket. If I saw an opposing pitcher putting her hand in her back pocket between pitches I might ask the ump to find out what was up. In cold weather it might be a hand warmer.

Coaches should have rule books... and read them.

...no idea pal. The pitcher had tape or a bandaid on her index finger. My question now is, how could a slick type surface of a bandaid help to spin a ball?

No dog in the fight as well......................wait, come to think about it, I did have a DD that went 0-2 with a sac. but the bandaid/tape wasn't the reason the pitcher got 'ol DD out.

Next ?.....Is there a rule that prohibits uhh, like the color of the ball on a glove or pitchers hand, etc?

    Thanks, nice thread.

For what it's worth, the NCAA at least makes their rulebook freely available on the Internet for anyone who wants to get a copy. And that place is here:

    http://www.ncaapublications.com/p-3...ball-rules-2-year-publication-online-now.aspx

As for the bandaid during a college game.

    NCAA 10.13.4:

However, my memory says (my dog-eared NFHS book is not with me right now) that NFHS has a prohibition against tape/bandaids on the gripping surfaces of the hand. I'm 95% sure that ASA has such a prohibition.

It's awfully hard to keep the rules straight between the different codes, so occasionally the umpire will "lose track" of the rules that apply on any given night.
