    Surry played then (or at least scheduled them) back in early September. I heard they played in some events up around Raleigh and a Diamond Devils event. I haven't been lucky enough to catch them this year.

    They looked pretty good, very good hitting.

    They got a real good shortstop that I believe recently committed to App. State.

    I watched them play the Phiffer University JV's earlier in the fall and and my son's Copperheads 18U team scrimmaged them shortly thereafter. They appeared to me to be a solid team with a lot of depth. They carried a large number of players, at least at the scrimmage and had a lot of pitchers. They came back to beat the Phiffer JV's in the last inning and the Copperheads 18U came back to tie them in the last inning. I haven't officially heard how they did in Charleston last weekend but one of the other dads said they were making a good showing.

    Sorry but I cann't remember any of their names as I watched them back in early September.

    Freddy Suggs runs the Anglers out of his own pocket, he doesn't charge anything for those guys to play. He keeps his eyes open for players with some ability who may not have the resources ( $$$ ) to play for other showcase teams. He does carry quite a few players. Some weekends he may have a pitcher or two who don't play a position that will only play ( pitch ) one day that weekend. The Anglers have been a fairly talented group for as long as I've seen them play and that goes back almost 10 years.

    One of the greatest guys you'll ever meet. He often gets overlooked, but he places a lot of players year in and year out!

    Actually, Nick DeRose and Hampton Foushee did not play for the Anglers.

    Jay Laramore (Reynolds High School) did play for the Anglers this year.

    There were some good players on the Anglers team!
    * Brandon York - West Wilkes
    * Jay Laramore - R. J. Reynolds
    * Ben Billingsly - Richmond Senior High ( Rockingham, NC)
    * Drew Gregory - Richmond Senior High ( Rockingham, NC)
    * Craig Besley - Rowan County (not sure which hs)
    * Daniel Moore - South Rowan
    * Brad Turner - Eden Moorehead
    * Tyler Chewning (sophomore catcher - follow him!)

    And the Anglers finished up their fall season last weekend in Charleston winning all of their games.
