no doubt Wade Moore could be the best player to come out of baseball rich Rowan County he started on the legion team at 15 yrs old. has all the tools you want in a baseball player but will the football coaches keep him from being a great baseball player.

Hopewell has a good core of younger players coming along.

Andy Oliver is a promising 06 pitcher/outfielder with a good fast ball that just needs a little control. Excellent speed also.

Matt Cochran is a 06 catcher with excellent technique. Hit well this past fall, if he keeps this up he will be a major contributor.

Matt Futtrell is an 06 outfielder/infielder with a good bat.

Also had Wesley Dozier, an 06 infielder, transfer in from North Mech. Haven't seen him play in a couple of years but last time I saw him, he had a strong bat and did well defensively at 2nd.

Zach Turton is an 07 outfielder/infielder/catcher that played on the varsity last season. Has excellent speed and very good defense. Consistancy with the bat and he could be a real keeper.

There are a couple of other 07's and an 08 that could develop and contribute in big ways but we'll have to wait and see.

NCBBallFan; North Mech also has a very talented group of young players waiting for those awesome seniors to finally move on to the college and/or pro ranks. Brandon Whitt is a fine 07 pitcher/outfielder. Eric Shoemaker is another fine 07 pitcher/outfielder. Shane Brown an 07 OF with promise and Thomas Ulmer a good 07 Pitcher/1st. Andrew Fox, a solid 07 OF. Aaron Plummer an 08 MIF with promise. There are also several 06s that could contribute. What can you tell us about them?

    MVaughn, that's a great question....

The problem for the 06's last year was the depth of the junior class. There wasn't much room for sophomores to move up and get much playing time. Only two starters graduated, so there is a little more room this year, but not much.

Zack Pou shows lots of promise with his bat. He has good speed in the OF, has pitched in the past and can hammer a baseball. He's a line drive type hitter who was working through making the adjustment to varsity when he suffered a broken wrist.

Scott Cave came up for the playoffs. He'll be a very good player .. another Outfielder who can hit consistently and has surprising power and speed.

Robert Proffitt (Jr) has been the starting catcher on varsity since he was a freshman. He's going to be pushed a bit this year as there are a couple players on the horizon who want to make their mark. Pat McElroy (Sr) will be shuffling IB and baseball and may get some innings behind the dish. There is a player by the name of Ben Heath (So) who is transferring in from Weddington I believe. If so, he's a monster at the plate and a very good catcher.

There are some young pitchers who were down on JV last season and it would be nice if they could get some varsity innings this season BUT ... you have a little too much in the way this last year on the mound (5-6 guys on the depth chart as seniors).

I'd like to see Brandon Whitt, Eric Shoemaker, Patrick Sherrill, Ben Beutel and the others get some innings, but there isn't enough innings to go around. They may have to spend at least part of their junior seasons down on JV. From the scouting reports I have heard, if they bring up only 1 of these guys to pitch, it will probably be Whitt, but there are opennings in the field for some of the others.

I'd like to see Travis Shoemaker (RHP) come out this season also, along with getting Brandon Kelly (LHP) to play also ... not that North needs two more senior arms :laugh1:

Watch for about 5 more NM players to commit this spring ... two of them pitchers.

On the young side, check out Kyle Mastrionni, who will be a freshman this year. You're really going to like him !!!

    MVaughn ....

From over at Hopewell, have you seen Danny Braman, Dustin Fitzgerald or Chris Sharp lately??? How are they progressing??? I know that Fitzgerald and Sharp should be juniors up on varsity this year.

i dont see how you mention the prospective prospects in the 06 and 07 class without mentioning robbie bray. 15-0 as a sophmore, this is a special kid. he works hard he has great stuff and is not afraid of anybody. barry bonds could step up and he might just throw him that dirty duece and be on his way.

:D :D You can't consider Robbie as a prospect trying to make a mark on varsity. He's an outstanding, proven competitor who everyone knows about now.

The don't mention Robbie much for the same reason that people don't mention Ryan Graepel of JH Rose, Addison Johnson of North Forsyth or Wade Moore of West Rowan. These guys have separated themselves from the crowd and proven themselves on varsity.

    NCBBallFan;
07 Danny Brauman is a fine player that I overlooked as he wasn't on the team last season. He has been to conditioning, but I feel he will have a hard breaking into the lineup as a first year player with Matt Gardner & Matt Futrell and Wesley Dozier. He does have a solid bat, so that will help. Chris Sharp has been to conditioning also but I haven't heard much about him. Dustin Fitzgerald hasn't been working out much, heard he had a job in the afternoons.

Would one of the two North pitchers that may commit in the near future be Greg Allen? I think he has a lot of potential with his size and frame. Some school could be getting a real steal there.
