A little shameless advertising... I wanted to post on here for any players in the Triad area that the Southwest Guilford High School Baseball Booster Club is sponsoring a 1-day All-Skills Clinic on Sat. Jan. 22.

In order to cover a lot of age-specific material, the clinic is divided into 2 sessions. Session I is for ages 12-under and Session II is for Ages 13-up. Both sessions will consist of 6 continuous stations and conclude with a final station allowing players to opt for a concentration on hitting or P/C. Session II will also include a discussion with Oakland A's Area Scout, Michael Holmes, covering college prep and the recruiting process for parents and players.

Fees are reasonable at $55 for Session I and $65 for Session II and will include lunch and a t-shirt, which you can wear under your sweatshirt! (Praying for a relatively warm day.)

Here is the list of Instructors with their current affiliation listed first:

    • Michael Holmes (Oakland A's Area Scout, Former Wake Forest Pitching Coach)
    • Alec Zumwalt (Milwauke Brewers/Triple-A, 4th Rd Pick 1999, East Forsyth H.S.)
    • Ralph Roberts (Atlanta Braves/Single-A, Cherryville H.S., UNC)
    • Mike Prochaska (Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Double-A, 16th Rd Pick 2002, Leesville Rd. H.S., NC State)
    • Ryan Blake (Florida Marlins/Single-A, 22nd Rd Pick 2003, Glenn H.S., UNC)
    • Alan Beck (Western Carolina Univ. Grad Asst. Coach, 16th Rd Pick 2003 Baltimore Orioles, South Caldwell H.S., Western Carolina)
    • Jeff Landing (New York Mets/Short Season, 12th Rd Pick 2004, Southwest Guilford H.S., Virginia Tech)

Anyone interested or wanting to find out more can contact Clinic Director, Andy Harper at (336)996-2120 or [email protected], or can visit www.eteamz.com/swgclinics for detailed station schedule, directions, in-depth instructor bios and downloadable registration forms.

This clinic is run by one of the best coaches in the state. Andy takes a sincere interest in not only developing young players but you can tell by the players that are helping him out...that he continues a wonderful relationship with all players he has coached.

If you can attend this one...it will definitely be worth your time.

If there is such a thing...this would be TBR approved !!!

Another Change I'll have to make........

Alec Zumwalt was the player to be named later in the Kolb-Capellan trade between the Brewers and Braves. He's been assigned to Triple-A Nashville. Alec is extremely pleased. Milwaukee's minor league wheels tend to move a little quicker than Atlanta's.
