T-ville can have a legion team next year and years to come...however someone will have to push for it and someone will have to find sponsers...it takes a lot of hard work to raise the amount of money it takes to operate a team and pay the AD along with the coaches...if the parents sit back and wait for someone else to do it, it won't get done..

A.... you know more about this than i do...

T-Ville has a problem with asking or getting sponsors for signs, ad's in their program, and monetary donation's. Now this depends on who you speak to in the organization. Playme is right, they have to pay their AD a nice BIG salary (it was made public this past week), and their coaches have gotten raises since last year. Do other legion teams have sponsorship problems, or is it just a problem in Taylorsville? My guess would be that it isn't a problem anywhere else, considering that Asheville,Caldwell,Hendersonville, and Hickory brings Greyhound buses to their games. This legion team needs leadership within the committee, and if they dont get that leadership and the team folds, then we will never have a team again.

    T. C. Roberson - Definitely (Asheville Area Team)

Yeah, TC is the team this year. With #2 nationally ranked Cameron Mabyn and several other solid players, they will be hard to beat at the 3A level. I think they have won the state 2 or three times in the past three years.
At least, I think that's what my friend told me.

    I'm sorry folks. I'm a dummy.
I'm a newbie to forums and jumped in before I should have.
I really hope everyone will forgive me and not ban me from your boards.

If I'm still around by tomorrow, I'll be contributing useful information from then on.

I love high school sports and I also love my line of work.

When I get passionate about something, I sometimes get tunnel vision.

I appreciate Braves and Pops for not zapping me and taking the time to go over some things.

I've seen message boards and forums in the past, but never was a member of any of them. So I got some things to learn.

As I can see, this is a very professionaly ran board with highly useful information.

I guess that's why they call it "This Board Rocks".

So, please accept my apologies and allow me to start anew.

    Regards,

    Rick

Was told by a board member about 3 weeks ago that the Henderson County Legion team has disbanded. This on the heals of the best year they have ever had. Most of the parent support for this team has now graduated out. Guess no one wanted to pick up the reigns.

Watauga's legion team was forced to disband due to monetary problems several years ago. Maybe the good people of Taylorsville and the good people of Boone need to think about merging.

Wouldn't that be fun. To see bitter rivals end up playing on the same team. I think you are on to something 007 :xyzthumbs

Yea, they could fund the team just by selling the movie rights. The Sawmills Redemption.

007 "The Sawmills Redemption" is funny, but too some of us that was personally invovled it still stings a little..Anyway, a Watauga/Taylorsville team would be interesting but Caldwell steps in and takes the Watauga kids first (they had Leyshon/Nigro this past year). Taylorsville would just like to be able to get anyone to help from outside. I see them following Hendersonville in a year or two and folding.
