Don't forget about the committment that was made to the coach and school. Maybe they stopped recruiting another player when this young man signed. With that said, If the desire is not in the heart, then it won't be on the field. 6:30 AM workouts and 10 pm film sessions can be tough.

Funny thing about committments to coaches. His coach left for another school.

    Great Point!

You know Braves...you bring up an excellent point. The NCAA does not allow for transfers (without penalty) if the coach leaves. Many times a coach has left a school just before NCAA sanctions and the former players are left behind to suffer the consequences. Coaches will also recruit players with the assumption the coach will be at the school for at least 4 more years. Then suddenly the coach accepts another position elsewhere and the recruits and former players are left with the uncertanity of another coach and his/her personality, style and competence.

The coach has every right to improve his situation, he owes that to himself and family. But kids go to these schools many times due to the relationship they have with the coach or coaches, not neccessarily for the academic reputation of the school.

Should the NCAA allow transfers to recruits and players if the head coach leaves for any reason say prior to the completion of say....the sophomore year? Just a question for thought.

Most people don't realize, but, except for basketball and football, there is a one-time exemption from sitting out a year in cases of transfering in other sports.

Here is a list of the college baseball players who transfered from one school to another this past summer. Of 117 transfers, only 3 are required to sit out 2005. It may have been because it wasn't their first transfer. If the situation changes, in college baseball, you can change with it.

Don't take long. I just know where they keep the information.

Each morning, I spend about 30 minutes getting up to date and I type real fast. You just need to have a good memory, know where the information is and be able to plug things together and relate information that you've seen.

    Example:
The post about the college players who transferred last year took 2 minutes. The information is on Baseball America from late 2004 in the college pages, it's on the public side, not the subscription side and I just cut/pasted the related data. I keep a link to the NCAA book-marked so I can go check regs quickly.

As for work, Braves will tell you that he frequently catches me on the board when I'm working at 2-3AM or even later.
