With all the talk on the board about the good, the bad, and the ugly it has got me ready for High School and Legion baseball. Roxboro Post 138 would like play other legions teams outside their area. We would be interested in single games, doubleheaders, or tournaments. You can contact me by phone at 336-599-5591 or by e-mail at cedarrowbeagles@yahoo.com.

Hey Coach, in Area IV the division schedules are put together until mid-March or so. I know that Caldwell is having a Memorial Day tournament before heading out to Washington, DC in mid-June. The Memorial Day tournament last year had Chapel Hill, Kannapolis and a few out of state teams (Douglasville, GA, etc). I can have the Post 29 AD Steve Bumgarner get in touch if you like.

Everyone else, lets talk about 2005 some. Whos going to be strong? Who are the players to watch? Who is going to be the 8 teams in Cherryville come August?

Down South, thanks for the reply. Roxboro Post 138 would be interested in the tournament.

As for strong teams if we at Post 138 don't lose two juniors to AAU we could possibly have our best season in our four year history. Both of those players are excellent pitchers. Ryan Daniel, a junior from Bartlett Yancey, is a player to keep track of. He pitches and plays infield. Hits from the left side and has a good bat. Charles Lane, a senior from Bartlett Yancey, is a good catcher with very good skills and a very quick release to go along with a strong arm. I also look for Blaine Newton to have an excellent HS and legion season. He is a player that can play infield and outfield. Blaine had a very solid Legion season last year.

OOPS! I hit the wrong button before I was finished. Two seniors from Person High should have good seasons. They are Blake Bowes and Daniel Walker. Both are very reliable pitchers that understand how to pitch.

generally if your on a 17u or 18u team your going to be traveling a few miles to practice unless there are teams in your immediate area...I would guess there are just as many 17-18u teams as Legion teams in the state.
Speaking for the Charlotte area there are 4 to 6 quality programs going... Down east i only know of a couple but i'm sure there are more...

Maybe someone on here could post some names and numbers to help you out.

I am not aware that Wayne County has ever lost a player to AAU. Perhaps it is because we have such a strong program and players want to play here instead of hitting the road. We have had a few to go to Ohio or Virginia to play in other summer leagues.
